  • I couldn't hold off for the mini-max...we have several trips planned and wanted a portable cooker. The mini is too small for the 4 of us plus guests. Picked up a Joe Jr. http://www.bbqguys.com/item_name_Kamado-Joe-Joe-Jr-Ceramic-Grill-On-Stand-Black…

  • Caliking is guessing north of $500...that seems high. Isn't this between the mini and small? Actually SMALLER then the small. You may actually be right...but I would just get a joe jr for a second ceramic cooker if that is the case.

  • Just turned 40 - when did you guys start getting these things?
  • Thanks for posting this - nice read. Makes me want to give curing and smoking my own bacon a shot.
  • 14 inch Chicago metallic
  • Interested to hear if this rumor is true...I am patient. :-)
  • $459 for the Jr with all the accessories, not bad. Mini is $400, add your nest, plate setter. Forgot about nest and platesetter...what do those run for the mini? Right about another $75 or so? Hmmmmm
  • I'm in the camp that would like to have a portable egg that's a little bigger than a mini but smaller than a small egg. on most days I'm cooking for four people and my large is typically overkill I'm also in North Carolina. I just called a local p…
  • Grate probe stopped working on my cyberQ Wifi. Emailed Guru and they asked if probe had melted...that I would see little red bumps from silicone poking through the mesh. I said no...got the RMA# and mailed it to them for evaluation. Their response w…
  • Really sweet. My daughter loves to do stuff like that too. No time like the present for her to learn about Capitalism. Have her think about what her material costs are and what her time is worth. Council her on what potential customers are likely t…
  • Now that Amazon is charging tax in NC...my prime membership has lost some luster. From Firecraft for Rockwood it is free shipping for orders over $99 and no tax. Each 20 lb bag of Rockwood is $19.95.So five bags shipped to my door is $99.75That work…
  • I tend to open er up after a low and slow and let it hit about 500 and go for an hour or so...that tends to clean off most everything. Other times, I will fire up my cast iron seasoner / bun toaster (the gas grill) and put everything in there for an…

  • Rockwood imparted no smoke to my turkey cook last night. That is perfect for what I want. I need to see how well it holds up on my over nighters...but so far so good.
  • Really, really juicy and flavorful. No smoke flavor to speak of from the Rockwood. I think the real improvement over cooking my turkeys whole spatchcocked and with skin is the fat that drips in the coals and creates smoke for the entire cook. The r…
  • I had no idea there was a rockwood rep on the forum. No need to apologize. I watched what was likely 80%+ of the damage. The fed-ex guy was being lazy and didn't give a crap. Padding would have helped...but ignorance like that is a special kind of s…
