It burns cooler with less smoke. Wow, that charcoal costs twice as much as the average price per pound of the meat I cook on my egg.
It would cheaper for me to start a fire with chuck steak and roast some oak.
I am thinking of getting another. I am leaning towards another XL. I like the idea that I don't have to buy another PS or pizza stone. I don't know what size all I know is I will get another one. The mini is just to small for my needs.
@ Bstang Get one from an Egg fest if you can. Only used once and by someone that knows how to use, and take care of them. That will be where I get my next one from. They only demo XL and L Eggs. Good luck!

I think dealers shy people away from the XL just because they don't personally have any

To much bark try and wrap in foil in the middle of the cook. Wrapping will (should) speed up the cook. You might try for the 1st 3-4 hours unwrapped then wrap for 3-5 then unwrapped till temp is reached. Let us know what you do and how it works.
