  • I do baking soda instead with excellent results. America's Test Kitchen did an episode on how to get the crispiest skin and baking soda came out on top. I've only tried on chicken though.
  • I'm with B&B. It hangs out in hair. I shave after or scrub the facial hair. Sometimes I like smelling like the egg. Makes me feel like I just went camping.

  • Doc, about how many people will that comfortably feed? I'll be having a party next month for about 50-75 people. Trying to decide how much I'll need.
  • I use 91% isopropyl alcohol from Walmart.  Works just like lighter fluid and has no bad taste (biproduct is carbon dioxide). That's why your garden looks so healthy. It's eating up all that CO2 ;-)
  • Ever come in the Tampa Bay area?
  • I use it to tell my kid that pool temp of 76 is too cold.
  • @gdenby Maverick remote or another thermometer of the same type. @skiddymarker need a spork. Perhaps we should urge a joint venture to create a mix between the freedoms of a Maverick with the accuracy and versatility of a thermapen
  • I have both and love both differently but I'd rather have the maverick as I do mostly low and slow, indirect cooks and roasts. Even when doing steaks reverse sear I like using the maverick to get an idea what my internal temp is while monitoring t…
  • I think we need to start a new thread here. I bet the thread owner won't be posting much after this, but I hope that's not the case. I'll take the liberty to start a new thread...
  • @Hogheaven, sorry you feel this way. I feel that you brought a needed argument in the temp discussion. I still have yet to comment but I back you up. And even if people disagree that doesn't mean you're not welcome.
  • I've done a few raised direct at 375 give or take. I did try icing the breast for 15 minutes on the last one and the thighs finished same time as breast. I would probably do that again, though my other ones turned out fine without doing that.  +1 on…
  • Welcome to the forum! Glad to see you joined since meeting you at the Sunshine Eggfest! Confused why you didn't invite us over for some pulled pork though ;-)
  • Very interesting, thanks for sharing this.

  • Brain Fart on "LC"....
  • I'm under the impression that the new FDA recommendations state that pork can be safely eaten at 145 (which is what I've been cooking my roasts/chops at). To me, I consider 145 well done. I'm just wondering the same thing MrCookingNurse is asking. G…
  • RIP
  • No, just decoration. That'd be sweet if it did though.
  • Sorry if anyone's offended that he's holding the head of what appears to be another Indian. I didn't make it, and I didn't even realize it until after I bought it.
  • Wish I could go right now. I'm starving...

  • I have a butt going on now. I still have yet to try the turbo since I enjoy the low and slow. Kids are sick tonight so I'll be up anyways. And on the off chance they sleep the maverick will keep an eye on things.
  • 3 months. Had a baby who couldn't sleep for more than 2 hours at a time for 6 months. After the 3 month mark I accepted the sleep as normal and started egging again. First thing I did was a clean burn to get rid of a bit of mold.
  • I'm surprised no one except deek asked about which lump you're using. Some brands or types have a little more smoky taste to them. I find the variance is minimal but it's worth a shot to try another brand since your lighting technique seems fine.

  • Serve on the cheapest piece of white bread or bun you can find. Don't want to cover up that good pork taste with fancy artisan bread. I prefer a good Carolina mustard sauce on my pork. There are good recipes on a thread by necessaryIndulg not too lo…
  • Costco milk containers and ikea shopping carts with 4 swivel casters... Stupid engineering I'll have to disagree on the Costco milk containers. They were able to fit 10% more per pallet so it cut shipping costs and lowered the price for members. Wh…
