  • Where did you get the sampler? I looked at the Dizzy Pig web site and they want over $22 ($11.00 for the sampler and $11.40 for shipping and handling). Is there another place to get it at a more reasonable price?
  • I have done the Amazing Ribs version (http://amazingribs.com/recipes/beef/close_to_katzs_home_made_pastrami.html) a few times and it always comes out great. I highly recommend starting from a brisket and corning it rather than using a store bought c…
  • My first pizza stone was from Costco or Sam's Club and it did not last long before breaking. I then purchased the Ceramic Chef stone from Crate and Barrel and it is still going strong after several years and pizzas.
  • Chevy_Tech said: Apparently stokerlog does not play well with macs, back to the drawing board. Both StokerConsole and StokerWebConsole work well with Macs, and Linux, and PCs. http://gatogordobbq.com/
  • I have the Stoker and there is no requirement to use a network as everything can be controlled at the unit itself. I assume that is true for all of the available units.
  • I have the Stoker and it works for me. I have only had a problem with the WiFi once, but I am not sure if it was the Stoker or my router. After resetting everything in my system, it reconnected again and has been solid. I am not sure what problems t…
  • In our house the staples are Frank's and Tapatio. We do not care for Tabasco, at all, and since it is the standard hot sauce for most restaurants, my wife normally carries a small bottle of Tapatio with her.
  • GATO, what was your oven shrinking procedure? going to replace mine tomorrow night. BTW, hillbilly, the permatex gasket alone probably won't be enough of a gasket, and might glue your egg shut. I preheated the oven to 300 and put in the unr…
  • I never preshrunk my nomex before putting that on. Didn't see that in the instructions. Any one have problems not preshrinking? The first time I applied the nomex gasket, I preshrunk it in the dryer. The gasket failed fairly quickly. I am not sure…
  • I have done it a couple of times. It is easy to do and comes out great.
  • If I read this correctly, the woman from whom you purchased the egg is the original owner (if she won a new egg) and should be able to make a warranty claim. Even so, I do not think any warranty covers dropping the egg.
  • Why the oven? I'm replacing mine with a nomex this weekend. You must preshrink the gasket and Fred says that you can do this in the dryer. Well, I tried that in my first attempt and the gasket failed fairly quickly. My guess is that it did not shri…
  • I replaced using the nomex gasket and have been happy, but had to do it twice. You really need to watch Fred's video. The first time I did it, the gasket did not last very long. I watched the video, realized what I did wrong, redid it and it has bee…
  • I have an idea what may be wrong. I connect without problem, but I also broadcast my SSID as I have some devices that won't connect when it is turned off. I just reset my router to not broadcast the SSID and then attempted to connect with the Stoker…
  • OK. It definitely has to do with the WPA2 Personal Security. When I enabled the guest network on my Time Capsule with no security, the Stoker connected fine and I could access the Stoker page with the system info via my laptop.  WPA2 Personal …
  • I have always used a chimney. Works fine and is reliable, but it requires that I either add new charcoal to the egg, or dig the old stuff out and put it in the chimney for lighting. Yesterday, I ran across Diamond fire starters. They were $7 for 48…
  • It helps to place the daisy wheel in the hot egg after the cook when you replace it with the ceramic cover.
  • Boards are 1 thing , But sanitation is another. We have done alot of cook offs and the boards have to be NSF approved. The white cutting boards can be sanitized while the wood cannot be. I am lucky to have a resturant supply company in town. Dishwas…
  • Can you post some screenshots of the interface so we can get an idea what it does?
  • The press release states that the firmware is delayed another week or two. UPDATE February 1 2012: Thank you very much for your patience. We are working diligently on the WiFi firmware and plan to have it released in one to two weeks. We had undere…
  • I have the Music City Metals grate and I really like it. It is 18" in diameter, just like the standard wire grate. No problem searing or getting grill marks. You can get it on Amazon. It fluctuates in price, but I got it for $40.
  • Chips, yes; chunks, no. There is a video on YouTube where the guy soaked a chunk overnight in water. The next day, he split the wood to see how far in the water soaked. It was about 1/8 of an inch.
  • I have a Stoker on order. The reason that I picked it over the Guru is that I can control it remotely. My daughter was graduating from college and we were having people over after the ceremony for pulled pork. The ceremony ran longer than I expecte…
