We hope everyone enjoyed their Fourth of July weekend and is excited for more warm weather grilling! This week, we’ll be making these two burgers: Stuffed Portobello Mushroom and Caribbean Chicken, and also eating lots of these Ice Cream Sandwiches in honor of National Ice Cream Month! It's time to think about getting out to one of the many #EGGfests around the country - see a list here

  • I typically don't cook a pizza unless the dome temp is roaring at about 700 degrees. If it was hot it should have cooked even wet dough fairly easily and in just a few minutes and not ten! Check your dome thermometer as it may be way off. Boil water…
  • Yes they are great. Wife got a VP210 about two years ago and we have used it for everything from bulk purchased popcorn to wet meats and even made sealed ice bags, Also put ours on a roll around cart along with the bags and supplies. Only had one is…
  • Pizza's were a huge success tonight. The egg was roaring and cooks were only a couple minutes each. Was easily able to keep up with the super peel picking up the assembled pizzas and transferring them to the stone, I used my old aluminum peel to pic…
  • Yes going to try a new Christmas present super peel this evening. Dough is being prepped now. I've used an aluminum peel for years and it works ok but picking up pizzas off the counter when you have several being built and prepped at the same time …
  • Yes it was a prime rib with the ribs still in place. Went over exceptionally well with a nice pink interior and excellent taste. I think it cooked better with the ribs in place and down like that. Looking at doing pizzas tonight with a new Super Pee…
  • Finished product... Resting now after removing it at 128 degrees at the center.
  • Was bulk packed.
  • No the boss corrected me that it will come off at 130 and let it rest as the temp will rise internally!
  • 128 seems very low for a roast. It will still be raw inside. If that is what your after then so be it. I like my roasts cooked a bit to soften up the tissue and make it tender.
  • I built a backyard kitchen with a spot for the BGE and used a slab of granite. From what I was told the egg could be placed directly on the granite. This is not a good thing to do. The first time I cooked pizza the granite cracked and had to be repa…
  • I  did 2 racks of ribs this past weekend and they turned out the best I have ever done. I used the 3, 1.5, 1 method. 3 hours at 250 dome temp (230 grid temp - I used an Auber Instruments controller) in a rib rack, then a covered pan with apple juice…
  • We did a ham and it came out really nice. I did a after cook sugar/spice glaze. My wife makes up a sugar and spice glaze that I sprinkle over the top and use a butane torch to melt the sugar. Multiple layers it's better than a honey baked from the s…
  • I did the 3, 1.5, 1 method and it came out perfect. I didn't sauce as I like to apply my sauce later at the table since many in my family just like the dry rub flavor. Best ribs I have ever made. I poured half a beer into the bottom on my pan and ad…
  • The feet are fine but the small table nest is just a bit more stable. Raised the egg about 2" overall. But from the pics you should be fine as long as your not rolling the table around much.
  • I added some of the LED strips to my outdoor kitchen. The EGG looks great! Hey work very well. Only issue is the tape does not bend around 90 degree corners. Had to cut the tape and splice with wires for all the corners. I then used a silicone over …
  • BTW - The mounting area for ours did have an expansion area though it was grouted in. In general I can wiggle the granite piece the egg is placed on. I honestly don't think it was due to the entire slab growing but rather a possible inclusion in the…
  • Yes I am still trying to get my granite contractor out to repair my crack. I placed our large BGE directly on a granite slab after asking my dealer if the little legs were required. They said no problem with direct contact. Anyway the first cook was…
  • IMHO they are for the look more than the function.
  • EBAY http://www.ebay.com/itm/Waterproof-5M-RGB-5050-SMD-LED-Strip-Light-300LEDS-IR-remote-controller-44key-/180933756236?pt=US_Car_Lighting&hash=item2a207e054c&vxp=mtr Those are adjustable any color and plug into 120V.
  • Have you tried to cook pizza in it yet? That will be the real test at how well the enclosure will put up with the heat. Good luck and looks great.
  • My table top to the surface of the lower shelf is 18" I essentially halved the counter height. The counter is about 36" high in that location. It was all built from cement blocks. The outside has veneer stone applied and grout between them. The grani…
  • BTW - I did get a table nest and report the granite does not get even close to hot like before. I only wish my dealer had told me to NOT put the BGE directly on the granite.
  • There was about 1/4" on all sides. The granite dealer thinks it may have been a pocket of air inside the stone. He is planning to repair the slab so I am OK with that.
  • Well I honestly thought the stuff would be fine. Here is a pic. I'll sort it out with the Granite guys. I guess I will need to put a spacer on the bottom.
  • I built one similar to the commercial unit above. Works great.
  • I built a stainless rod with a number of holes in the end. The end is crimped so that gas does not exit in a large flame. the other end is connected to a hose and a small 1lb propane bottle with a valve. Just parts I had around in my garage. The sta…
  • I used a Auber Instruments Egg controller on a pork butt last night. I set it at 215 and at midnight it was dead center 215. Woke up this morning and it was at 216! I went out fishing with the kids as the internal temp was just at 180. When I got ba…
