Stupid quesiton for a newbie like me, but what kind of bricks are those? Did you have to break them in half?
They are just simple landscaping bricks that you can get at Lowe's or Home Depot, I did break them in half.

Mike8it - What kind of ribs were they (baby backs, etc)? This could make a differance. I cooked some baby backs this past Friday and they were flawless. Here's what I did, perhaps you can give this a try:
1. Remove membrane on back of ribs.
