  • Looks fantastic.
  • I cooked two butts a week early for my daughter's housewarming party. Cooked, pulled, sealed, froze. Dropped the bags into boiling water to heat and served in crock pots. One of the guest asked I got so much flavor in "crock pot" pulled pork...
  • I have had my BGE on my porch for three years without a hood. I do not have screens.  The ceiling fan on high dissipates the smoke and nothing collects on the ceiling. I have cooked 1-2 days a week in this config with no deposits on ceiling. I do …
  • I would think if you close the lid for 15 minutes any moisture or gases would bake out of the lump.
  • As mentioned before you, and your brisket will be fine. For the short term by a Maverick wireless thermometer that will alarm when pit temp drops. I eventually purchased a CyberQ controller (still use my Maverick to alert me) for long cooks to kee…
  • I never have this problem at my house.  I have a rule -"No Cheap Beer".  I simply explain to them I'm not feeding you "on sale hot dogs" when you come over to hang out so don't bring cheap beer.  I think the food must be OK because most of them brin…

  • RRP said: I happen to have just the opposite problem. I will drink an occasional beer, but I have Sam Adams, Guinness and some other brands left in my bar frig that I personally can't stand. Guess I should just throw them out, huh? Pou…
  • That tool worries me. All the weight of the place setter is being concentrated into one narrow area to support it on the tool. I wonder if anyone has ever broken the PS with the tool. I dropped my rain cap onto my deck from about a foot high and …
  • Does anyone have a picture of this device? I usually use leather welding gloves form Home Depot.
  • For those of you who don't use plate setter do you place stone directly on BGE grill grid? Does the grill warp?
  • I got mine from Cover Store. More details in the following thread. http://eggheadforum.com/discussion/1143837/finally-found-a-cover-for-my-new-table#latest
  • @SkiddyMarker, I found that when this message comes up I need to copy the text I'm trying to post and then delete it. Then click the "Show Source" button (looks like this <>) and paste text into there and click Post Comment.
  • I'm enjoying Balvenie 12 right now. A friend had us over 4th of July for a scotch and cigar tasting. We each brought two scotches and a 2-3 favorite cigars to try. It was very interesting tasting 4 different scotches in a row. We tried each with …
  • For some reason I could not get this text in the post above after four tries. I used to feel the same way but I got tired of feeling like crap the day after an overnight cook because my Maverick would wake me up because the pit temp was low or be…
  • @HorseMover The CyberQ is a great device. It has a pit probe and three meat probes. Easy to configure for cooking to regulate pit temp. I cooked two spatchcocked chickens at 350 followed by an overnight 16 hour pork shoulder at 230. Worked flawl…
  • I made a couple more for my two brother-in laws today.  Probably not good enough to count as a Christmas gift...
  • Be careful with swing grate during a high-heat burn.  I warped the crap out of mine last year.  I had to "fix" it with a sledge and a concrete floor. BTW - Swing grate = awesome for those who don't own one.
  • When I stir up the coals to knock off the ash I typically go ahead and add additional charcoal.  I scrape all the old stuff to one side of the grate and add fresh lump.  I then scrape all the small leavings up the side and onto the top of the fresh …
  • @lousubcalp Hmmm...I have not seen that Great Lakes flavor here in Northern VA but I'll be lookin' for it.
  • Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald while the Egg heats up for stuffed peppers. Last night Bowmore 12 year old Scotch and Nica Libre. My summer drink of choice is gin & Fresca.
  • Before adding the new lump I stir the old stuff and knock all the ash through the grate. When I do a pizza cook I fill the firebox to the mid point on fire ring. I cook pizza at 650. The only way I can get to that temp is platesetter legs down and…
  • Herb encrusted lamb chops and burgers on Saturday.
  • I used the copper Permatex to apply my Nomex gasket a year ago. Still going strong after plenty of 650 degree pizza cooks. The Nomex seals nicely.
  • I usually smoke my brisket about 5 hours on the egg starting it at 6:00 am. At the five hour mark I wrap in foil and finish it in my oven. I need my Egg to make wings/ABTs for apps and BBQ Baked beans to serve with the brisket. We usually eat aro…
  • I have a piece of marble on my table top so I'll put there till it cools. I used to keep a couple of bricks on the deck and set the place setter their till cool.
  • Cool thread...I also enjoy the Olivia Series V cigars that several others have mentioned.  My go to cigar is San Lotano Oval (AJ Fernandez) but a friend just bought me some Alec Bradley Prensado cigars I have been enjoying recently.  I like getting …
