I would make sure the bands are even and the band bolts are tight. Make sure nothing is broken or out of place if it's an old egg. If you have a new egg than I would wonder if it's assembled correctly or a defective hinge.

Having an air gap between the bottom of the egg and the table is a good idea. A stone is an added safety measure. Unfortunately the egg is sitting high with that table design. Can the shelf be lowered without too much work? Good luck.
That doesn't seem right if you filled it up. I've gotten some bad bags of Royal Oak in the past and had trouble holding temp. Royal Oak is hit or miss for me. Try a different bag next time or a different brand.
