Hop on down to your nearest EGG dealer this week to pick up some Easter EGGcessories! Here are a few that may be useful for Easter, the V-rack, electric charcoal lighter and flexible skewers! Now that Spring is in the air, it's time to think about getting out to one of the many #EGGfests around the country - see a list here

  • Gasket looks ok after the lid being closed all night, its still not stuck on as well as I would like but its not hanging off either! So hopefully a 300F burn will help things stickWill also get  Rutland ASAP!Thanks for the advice
  • I left the lid down for a couple of hours and the weight pressing down has helped in that none of the gasket is hanging off or anything. Might do a sub 300F burn tomorrow and see if that helps things stick
  • Yes its self adhesive, for some reason the 3M spray that everyone uses in the US is maybe banned or very hard to get in the UK, not looked into this for a while.Might be the pit probe as there are some issues where I normally put that, there is also…
  • Its around 7.20am and the butt is at 185F, at 6am the Egg was 267F and the butt 190F so I bought the temp down a bit.Hope to serve around 1.30pm.
  • Charlie tuna said: Each egg, depending on it's air openings(gasket and vent seals) has a minimum temperature it will operate at!  It sounds as though you have "no temperature controller", and you have the top vent closed, and can't control te…
  • Vent is closed as well, i have for all intents snuffed the egg but the temp keeps climbing
  • Start with the best quality meat you can afford, avoid supermarkets if you can.
  • Looks really good, how much did the pig weigh before cooking?Have an XL Egg myself and might give this a go!
  • In the UK at least there is now a good channel for BGE support and extras. If the Joe was a lot cheaper I might consider it, I will get a lot of push back from my wife when I try for the 2nd XL next year! As they are more or less the same price I ma…
  • Dropped them both in around 5pm on Friday night. When I got up the meat temp had droped to 146 (from 154 the night before)Once up I turned the egg up a bit and the meat was fine, it hit 192F with 30 mins to spare as was rested for 45 mins then serve…
  • Hey asfish, Where are you located. Sandhurst
  • In the end I ordered 2 Nomex gaskets from the US as well as 12 tubes of Permatex for future useFitted the Nomex a few weeks ago, on the XL I was able to lift the lid back and fit the gasket without taking anything off. I had to sort of wedge the eg…
  • I'm from the UK and have an XL, once I had seen pictures of the XL with 10 chickens in it there was never going to be any other size!Odd though as the guy I bought from sold 100 or more eggs last year and only 2 of them were XL.Helps him remember me…

  • One butcher I spoke 2 called the Butt "neckend"I will check with my local one this week as I will be ordering 2 from him:)
  • I have an XL Egg and live in the UK. The BGE standard one was burnt off on the 2nd pizza cook I did (a family do your own) I had followed the rules and done low cooks etc beforehand. The BGE distributer sent me a standard gasket at no extra cost, in …
  • I would like to do this to my XL as like others here pizza cooks finished my gasket off.  One question do you just put the Permatex seal on the bottom lip of the egg? Or on the top as well?Getting this stuff in the UK is a nightmare, found one place…
  •  I've done 2 or 3 slow cooks now; I use the BGE digital thermometer, I’m starting to see that there is not a big need to worry about the egg temperature that much when slow cooking. The thermometer I use has a probe for meat and for the BGE, so I foc…
  • 41 had the egg around a year
  • Alfresco have always been very helpful, and are a good company. However I spent the best part of £2,000 on an XL and extras. As such I feel that this gasket issue should be better managed. All of the solutions are linked to the US for purchase, I loo…
  • I have the same issue, I followed the advice, and I even light the egg twice with nothing in it First round of pizza with just the wife and I was fine, then she told her sister and friends so next thing I was doing it for 8 people and that starte…

  • Hi Kbradie I printed this off when ordering the butt from my butcher in the UK, he knew what it was straight away just by another name!http://culinaryarts.about.com/od/beefporkothermeats/ss/cutsofpork_2.htm
  • It arrived around 2pm and I was shocked to see how big it was. This was sort of strange as I have seen them before when I did some homework before buying. I was worried that it wouldn’t go down the side of the house for a while, the wheels were off …
