  • Eggcelsior said: @botch did you do the Prime invite thing? That's how I got mine. I love the Prime Music factor, as I get most of my tunes the same way. Sure the speaker isn't the best, but its a hell of a lot better than my phone when I'm st…
  • KiterTodd said: I have this at least once a week.  I've only made it a couple times, and have decided it's a cheap lunch and isn't worth my effort to make at home.     By the time I buy the bones/meat for broth, spices, rice noodles, bean spr…

  • I got my first motorcycle in 2007, when I for the first time paid over $50 for a tank of gas. Today I filled my truck for less than $50 for the first time since!I'm keeping the motorcycles, however.
  • @UncleFred, what is that thing?  A doughnut maker?  I got myself something splurgy already for Christmas.  It's not quite a Sonos system, but I got the new Amazon Echo:   It's a powered speaker that connects to your Wifi, and understands your speech…
  • You mentioned the two I have and use constantly, the pasta rollers and the grinder.  I have the plastic grinder, it might wear out eventually but not in my lifetime.
  • With the holidays upon us I would like to share a personal experience about drinking and driving. Some of us have been known to have brushes with the authorities from time to time on the way home after a "social session" out with friends.Last weeken…

  • Here in Utard, I stick by "Happy Kwanzaa".
  • Parchment is about foolproof, just like the training wheels on your first bicycle.Roll the dough out on your countertop (formica, marble, butcher block, don't matter).  Flour the top.Sprinkle course cornmeal onto your WOODEN peel.  Flip the dough up…
  • My wife wants beans in chili. I don't do beans in chili.. ( Grew up in Texas ). So I make my chili so hot, she won't eat it. No beans in chili!  Just cook up some beans, and throw them in her bowl before spooning on the chili.Serio…
  • I've tried chili with, and without, beans, my entire life.  I like them both, I'll keep sampling, and I'll let you know my ultimate (and, obviously, Correct) decision. It'll be on my headstone.
  • Ditto.
  • And I just read through the recipe, and it counters what I've been told my whole adult life: make sure the oil is hot before adding the food, to avoid oily soggy food. :-??
  • It sure looks good! I'm just not sure that frying fish in oil on your bge is a good idea. Seem dangerous to me. If the oil spills or splaters it could cause a fire.  I used to think the same thing, until I realized I have a gas stovetop, …

  • Heh, mine's only 7", once again I'm "inadequate"...   :-/ Guess I'll stick to canadian....
  • I'll never cook that many anything at one time, but I picked up a few useful pointers from your post; thanks!
  • Greeno, what's the blade diameter of your slicer?  I've shied away from belly bacon (I've done canadian bacon with success) because I didn't think my slicer was big enough to handle full bacon, but now I'm wondering... Everything looks fantastic, by…
  • Gah!  Once again, why do so many outstanding/copy-worthy cooks come on Sunday night?!?!?  C'mon, Retirement!!!
  • Dang it; I wasn't going to buy any more barbeque books...   :-S
  • That looks fantastic!   :-bd
  • Jeremiah said: The reverse sear method is what you should do in the case of over searing. It only works on concrete patios though for it requires you to remove said steak from egg and scrub it in a counterclockwise motion on the patio thus re…
  • Frontier is the only lump available around here besides BGE's; I'm just finishing my first bag and will be going back to the BGE.  The Frontier had good-sized chunks, but I saw a lot of pieces that were more wood than lump, hadn't been heated enough…
  • buzd504 said: I put in a request for one when they sent out the notice for Prime, but I haven't gotten one yet.  Actually, I put out a request too and never got an "invite" to buy one (yet) too.  A buddy of mine on my audiophile forum g…
  • @keepervodeflame, those sound delicious! One of my favorite Xmas fingerfoods are candied almonds/walnuts, bet they would be great with a kiss of smoke.  Likewise, has anyone ever made Chex Mix on the Egg?
  • Just clicked it on; although I'm a retired Flyboy so don't have a dog in this fight.
  • I think potatoes are better because they are not dried out. The stove is dry heat and the egg is not, IMHO.    True for an electric oven, not so with a gas oven.
  •      The local are also extremely fond of Jell-O, but you can get that anywhere...
