  • In some areas, you can't find lump for long after Labor Day, so ya gotta stock up, before they put it back into hiding, to make way for the Halloween and Christmas decorations.  You don't want to get into a desperate situation, and run out of lump, …
  • Without shelling out the big bucks for a true commercial canopy, I really like the Undercover models, over the EZ-up ones. The Undercover canopies have an adjustable peak, that allows you to tighten up the roof panels, using a dial. It really helps …
  • I've done three racks of ribs, cut in half, and stacked in alternating directions, on top each other. I used a Woo and foil-covered pizza stone, to create an indirect setup. I cooked them at 250, with apple wood for smoke, rotating the stacks about…
  • I hear where you're coming from! I had gastric bypass surgery (six months ago today, actually), and can barely get in 4oz of food at a time. Because of this, my focus has to be on eating lean protein, and with whatever room my little pouch of a stom…
  • You need to make sure you have the right Rutland gasket. There's rope (round) and tape (flat). The one you want is the flat version. The part numbers are #90 for the kit (5/8" x 84"), and #720 for the bulk spool (5/8" x 157').
  • Even if you find the truck is not governed, if you're towing a vehicle, especially using one of the U-HAUL two-wheel dollies, you may find you can't go over 50mph, without the trailer starting to sway from side to side. Give yourself plenty of room,…
  • Hey, James ... now that you've got some years under your belt, have you considered attending the 2nd annual "Eggs on the Beach" in Virginia Beach, this year (October 27th)? This fest is still in its infancy, but having people with experience ... esp…
  • That looks wonderful! What size skillet did you use (that you wish was bigger)?
  • No, it isn't. If you can't tell by the posts, under the description, it states "This fan page is not affiliated or endorsed by Big Green Egg or www.eggheadforum.com"
  • Prime (best) > Choice > Select > Standard/Commercial > Utility/Cutter/Canner (worst)
  • If you put a thin film of dishwashing liquid on the outside of the dish before cooking on the Egg with it, it'll clean up easy-peasy!
  • Nice to know ... thanks, Smitty!
  • Duganboy said: I clip it on the grid, where it is not exposed to direct heat.  I want to know the difference between dome and grid. Why clip it to the dome thermo and get two readings from the dome? Because I'm using it to control the te…
  • I always clamp mine onto the stem of the BGE thermo, since I cook by dome temp, not grid temp.  If I'm running at 225/250, my daisy wheel isn't open enough to feed the cable through it.
  • TJV no longer markets the Woo3, since coming out with the PSWoo2 and PSWoo3 (PS = Plate Setter). He does still make the Woo2, which has removable crossbars. Are you looking for a true Woo3, or a PSWoo3?

  • I'm saving my pennies for my own Wrangler Unlimited, but am trying to decide between the Sahara and the Rubicon.  There's features on each that I could do without, but will probably go with the Sahara, when the time comes (even though I don't like t…
  • In Virginia, Q Barbeque is Tuffy Stone's place. His first location is in Midlothian, VA, with others now open in Hampton and Glen Allen, and another under construction in Fredericksburg.
  • Anyone know the thread size for the hardware offhand?? From my BGE assembly instructions for the spring-assisted band:(2) ¼” x ½” clinch studs(8) ¼” x 5/8” clinch studs(8) ¼” Keps nuts(2) 5/16” x 2” carriage bolts (grade 5)(2) ¼” Acorn nuts(2) 5…
  • We get tons of alcohol wipes with my other half's medication injection kits, so the extras get allocated to Thermapen probe duty.
  • How many of you clean/change tongs after flipping chicken the first time when cooking?  One side is no where near up to "safe" temp prior to flipping.   Having a person in the house with an autoimmune disease (MS), I can't take any chances. Eithe…
  • You can also get yourself a table nest, which is what BGE Corp is selling, in lieu of including ceramic feet with the Egg.  While they don't show it in the below picture, I'd still use the paver or stone, between the table and the table nest.
  • I use 4mil disposable nitrile gloves, that I buy by the bucketful, from Gempler's. One pair goes on to clean out, prep, and light the Egg. Another set goes on, to prep the meat, and then one comes off, to be able to handle the shakers of seasoning. …
  • I would forgo a regulated temperature burn, and just let 'er rip at max temp (Daisy-wheel off and bottom vent wide open) with a FULL load of lump (top of fire ring), until it runs out of fuel. Plan to replace your gasket, as you won't have much of o…
  • LOL, yeah ... I gave the gasser to my sister, a couple of months ago. I had so much stuff, I had to get a big ol' deck box, to store it all in!
  • If you get the mini, and will be getting a stand, make sure you get the one like Mickey shows in the above photo. The older style is round, was originally made for the chiminea, and is known to have issues (below).
  • My family is a big fan of the Raging River Rub, so much so, that I have to buy it in the quart size containers.
  • You're looking for the Rutland 5/8" x 84" tape (#90), should you find multiple options in a store. If you're wanting to gasket an XL, you'll need 108" of it, which means you have to find someone who will sell it to you by the foot off of a bulk spoo…
  • Philadelphia Eagles fan by birth, Green Bay Packers fan (and owner) by choice!
  • I love the Ceramic Grill Store "stuff", and should be getting my 10" stones, large Woo2 and another small Woo in today's FedEx delivery. That'll make my total haul from CGS (so far):(2) Large Woo3s(1) Large Woo2(1) Large Adjustable Rig, with extende…
  • The prices vary from fest to fest, as well as the bundle of "stuff" that comes with them. For instance, at DizzyFest (Manassas, VA), for $750, you'll get a large BGE, nest, a sample pack of their rubs, plus three shaker bottles of your choice of the…
