  • May be worth your while to make a small investment into this "tool". You can use it for a lot of other things later. Here's a link for you:…
  • lol - if you see a Honda with an egg strapped to the hood, don't be surprised....

  • The best way to clean it is a high heat burn off. Some of the vets can tell you how hot, but I'm guessing it should stand up to 700 to clean it.
  • It is close, but I think it may be a little better. I was a huge Blue Moon fan, then got turned onto this stuff. Haven't bought Blue Moon since...
  • Very nice... I have yet to do steaks on mine. The Blue Moon was a good choice, although I've been drinking Leinenkugels "Sunset Wheat" lately instead. Have you tried it?
  • Awesome! I was hoping it would get pulled together. If I was not working those days I would have made the 6 hour drive. (I grew up on Ft. Bragg)
  • There was much debate recently on this thread:

  • Thanks for the advice, guys. I will let you know how it worked out. It's for a friend's B-day party, and he LOVES bbq. He's never had egg bbq before, so I'll see how he likes it.
  • The best place I have found is Wegman's. Their prices are good, and the meat is great. I pay 99 cents / pound for fresh pork shoulder, never frozen. Is that a good price???, or am I being sucked in by the Wegman's experience. The fresh ribs (St. Lou…
  • I was thinking of adding a granite top to my table, but figure it would cost as much as the cooker! It would be nice though...
  • I think an egg team will take the prize... Capt. Harris will be a great judge and draw for the crowd... although he may want to see more seafood grilled up!
  • Glad to hear it - talked to Brett today and he is shipping my first taste of Blues Hog. (and some chunk wood)

  • Got my new wok and pizza peel in the other day... My brother, who is a cantonese chef, told me to rub it down with peanut oil and put in a 400 degree oven for 2 hours. After spatchcock chicken I put it on the egg. Turned out nice... need to scrub it…
  • Would love to find an egghead around here (King George County, VA) Not too many people around here, so finding an egg head is probably slim. I was at the dealer yesterday, and she told me a guy came in about 2 months ago and bought an XL, keeps c…
  • I love me some Capt. Billy's. Drive by there every day, but haven't been in a while. Will check out that site... haven't heard of them that I can remember.
  • That is a steal. Why so cheap? Buying it from an authorized dealer? If not, check for warranty.
  • Deal? That is a steal! Most pay $700 or more. I thought I got a deal at $649 just for the egg.
  • I agree, the thermapen is necessary. I balked at the cost a little bit, but they are on sale right now. However, it is worth every penny. No other "instant" thermometer will give you the temp as quick, and accurately. Read their website, and search …
  • Looks great. The thing I like about the compact sized table is that it is more portable and does not take up a lot of space.... good for those with a smaller patio. Ribs were the first thing I cooked on my egg.... will never forget them.
  • Bill - I know what you mean. Can't wait to try it out in a good Virginia winter. (which is milder than some of our cousins to the north) however, it gets cold here, and at my house the wind is incredible.
  • Great post, Chris. You captured it. Without this forum I would have never bought my egg, and never have had Kenny sending me my first box of Dizzy Pig goodies. When reading this forum I was taken back a bit because of the in depth instructions an…
  • Oh geeze, is there a science to this? I've just been dumping lump in, lighting in the center, and lettin' her go. Worked for my 16 hour lo'n'slo'. I guess I will have to pay more attention. I'd hate to lose a fire on a lo'n'slo.
  • highpress -- I bought mine from Offenbacher's. They are a huge outdoor store, and had the eggs on sale. They are usually special order, but they had 3 large eggs in the back room from their 4th of July Eggstavaganza they didn't sell. If you're…
  • It's red oak - not stained, just sealed with Spar Urethane. Got the plans from nakedwhiz. He's a genius.
  • Bought mine new two weeks ago for $649.00. With a V-Rack, Wok Topper, 5 bags of wood chips, firestarters, ash pan, grill gripper, lg. plate setter, and 20# bag BGE lump, the total was only $841 after tax.
  • Waldorf has an eggfest?!?!?! Eggcellent. I work in Charles County and will have to check it out.
  • Nice job on the ribs - can't wait to do beef ribs for the first time. Congrats on Emily, I know it was a special day for you guys.
  • That looks like a medieval torture device.... and i love it and want one.

  • I added the squash at the last... probably 10 minutes indirect, then 2-4 more on direct. It was good, but a bit smokey, like the last time. I'm doing it in a ceramic baking dish next time with some marinara sauce on the bottom and top. Bill - enj…
