I own a Big Green Egg and a Kamado Joe! I love the Kamado Joe customer service way better! I find the nest is way better built and harder to tip!

Make shoure it lump charcoal your using and not briquetts!

lots of people store the loofttlighter outside! This is one of the main reason it fails early! You have to store it away from all the elements! Little mottors don't like moisture and corrosion!
Thats why lots of folks are getting mad at BGE because they don't care about customer service! They knew about this issue for years and never did anything about it! Bge is a very good grill but I smell coroporate greed!!!
Definatelly use a couple handfull! I use a brush and scraper to clean my plate setter. I cover my plate setter with foil when cooking indirect or use a drip tray!
