It feels as though we’ve waited forever for college football to start, and finally the wait is over! Check out our tailgating page for recipes that are sure to become fan favorites. As an added bonus, the day before Labor Day is National Bacon Day and we don’t know about you, but we like putting bacon on anything and everything, so we’ll definitely be celebrating that. It's time to think about getting out to one of the many #EGGfests around the country - see a list here

  • Low & slow is awesome. I also do turkey for the nonsmokers in my convection oven at 240 degrees for the juiciest turkey you can serve! Low & slow on the egg will produce the same with that nice smoky flavor. Apple & cherry wood chunks re…
  • It is always better to have too much than not enough. I always clean out my egg end then load some fresh lump and then dump the left over on top and then top off with more fresh. You are going to burn it anyway and it is easier to load the egg only …
  • No rack needed to do butts. Here I have a brisket going under the butts and a drip pan under then t catch the grease.
  • What kind of lump are you using? All of my eggs will go over 18-20 hours with ease using Lazzari or Royal Oak lump and have left overs. I haven't tried a long smoke on my small so I can't vouch for it yet.
  • You have to admit it was the Bretheren that drove you mad and made you finally give in to the Egghead lifestyle! Was it RTD or me that drove the final nail in the coffin of your old BBQ ways? Congrats from a Bretheren Egghead! :w…
  • Great Pics Smitty! Sorry I couldn't make the Eggfest because I can see that Coastside Fishing Club was there by the numbers! Great job on the party and take a little time off to relax.
  • My first egg was a medium and not enough room for what I wanted to cook so a large quickly came into the picture. And then another large and a small and then the XL! The question is not which one to buy but which one to buy first! Get the large!
  • I paid $250 for my small with the nest & cover from an Egghead in SoCal and had a friend & neighbor that happened to be 20 minutes from the egg in Huntington Beach at the time the deal was made. Fortunate for me he brought it home over 400 m…
  • Jimmy, Forget the food even though that looks awesome. I'll come down and take care of your riff-raff just to go offshore fishing! :woohoo:
  • I can always use another medium if you are willing to dispose of them that easily! My brother can gather his own eggs! I am from the school of "If one is good , then one of every size is better!" including two of the large. The issue of…
  • Looks like we have both styles covered and the install is basically the same so if his hinges are mounted differently he should be able to detect the issue with it. B)
  • I suspect someone has no idea how to assemble the hinge band assembly when they brought it to you. This is how the assembly should appear and the dome should slide back away from you when you open the dome and IT SHOULD STAY OPEN with no assistance.…
  • I use a 1/4 pan cooking sheet front a restaurant supply. You can use cookie baking pans as well. I just did 2 butts and a 9 pound brisket and the pan held it all! For ribs, I use a pizza pan.
  • vidalia1 wrote: BTW....I have cooked for over 6 hours on my Small Green Egg without loading anymore lump...the above mentioned was on my large...yes a lot of us have 2 or more eggs...because of the increased versatility two Eggs gives you...rememb…

  • Actually I am a little hard on the Beaver but it is always in the River cats interest to do that to all the teams. I love the minors more than going down to the big boys and spending so much more money than they are worth. Having the Rivercats here …

  • Let's just say that I am a drug dealer and Big Green Eggs are my junk to sell to the kiddies!!! I am converting a few here and there as I get them hooked on my barbequed meats and then they need to know how to produce the drug for them selve…
  • jtpuck wrote: Has anyone tried both sizes of egg? The large egg has the classic shape and design. The larger, XL egg has a different shape but more room. Does the XL egg lose any of its unique cooking capabilities? Purchasing soon, and don't want …
  • The answer is yes! Corn meal is the preferred alternative and is the method i was raised with when I had my first job at age 16 in a pizza parlour. I prefer the parchment paper because it has less mess to deal with.
  • My daughter's nickname is Moose and right now she is in shock!!!

  • Plenty of RO out here in California at the Walmarts I have been to. It is my backup to my Lazzari stash. I burn about 20 pounds a week and always looking for back up stash.
  • The instructions that come with the replacement gasket suggest using acetone to get the old gasket crap off the edge of the eggshell where it is pourous so I would think it would be ok to give it a go on the outside as well. Maybe try a small test s…
