It feels as though we’ve waited forever for college football to start, and finally the wait is over! Check out our tailgating page for recipes that are sure to become fan favorites. As an added bonus, the day before Labor Day is National Bacon Day and we don’t know about you, but we like putting bacon on anything and everything, so we’ll definitely be celebrating that. It's time to think about getting out to one of the many #EGGfests around the country - see a list here

  • Final Update: Our local group is up to 30 members now - most of them are forum members or will be soon. Our latest order was for 180 bags (3 full pallets). Lee Ann at WGC provided awesome service as usual and managed to get the lump delivered ear…
  • All you need to do is send me a PM via the forum with your mailing address. I will post a note to this thread when they are all gone.
  • Brief update on the alcohol starter kits: The rubber stoppers arrived today from a scientific lab supply company. The syringes were delayed because the medical supply company wanted a prescription before they would ship. I spoke with the owner of…
  • Update: I have received a lot of requests for the syringe and stopper kits. I have already given away about a dozen of them and I purchased enough to take care of about 40-50 more people. I still have some left as of right now but at this rate they …
  • I have done a number of gasket jobs and each time the 3M Super 77 worked great. No shrinkage or gaps, nothing came loose. I did make sure to completely clean off the rim of the egg first, using mineral spirits to get the old adhesive off and then us…

  • SmokinParrotHead wrote: Maybe so.....But, your video(#1) shows the temp going up rapidly when you first close the lid, but that is due to the flames lapping at the tru-tel. It takes a while longer for the lump to actually start burning good and g…

  • Our order has been finalized. We are getting 3 pallets - 180 bags total. We have 22 people in our local group with 14 ordering at this time. I have sent pricing, payment, and delivery info to everyone via email. If you missed out on our Nashville…
  • Another update: Our total group size is up to 22 members and still growing. Lots of eggers in the Nashville area for sure. We have 13 members committed to ordering on this batch. 160 bags are already sold so we just need to sell 20 more bags to f…
  • Brief Update: We have 11 buyers for a total of 133 bags as of right now. We are still waiting to hear back from 8 people via email and 4 others might increase their orders so we will probably be close to 3 pallets, maybe even 4 pallets if the las…

  • Wow. Fast response via email. We are already up to 2 pallets and counting with only one third of the people responding so far. It looks like we might get up to 3 or 4 pallets this time, and if so then the price should be even lower. I will update th…
  • I tried all kinds of gloves too and did some scientific testing with all of them. My conclusion was that several types are needed to cover a variety of tasks. When handling an extremely hot plate setter or cooking grate the thickest orka mitts do of…

  • Hi Woody - hope all is well with you. Yes, it was on craigslist in Murfreesboro but it was actually located in Beechgrove. Tim: I have purchased several used eggs over the years. Some for me and some for family / friends. Here are some of the dea…
  • As luck would have it, I came across a deal on a medium egg today and will now be painting it in a similar manner. What an odd coincidence that I got a new egg on the same day that I posted this thread, after a long spell of being away from the foru…

  • I designed an enclosed table and was worried about the same problem. Have been using it for almost 2 years now and no problems at all. Had the egg up to 800-1000 F many times. It sits under a carport most of the time but is sometimes exposed to dire…
  • All new parts should be warrantied just as if you purchased a new egg. If my dealer or BGE refused to replace a defective part which I purchased from a dealer and had the receipt for then I would immediately cease relations with those parties. Th…
  • I agree with thirdeye. The egg depreciates significantly as soon as you take it out of the dealer showroom just like a new car does. The actual amount of instant depreciation is impacted by several factors: - how much would you pay for a lifetime…
  • I learned about resting on this forum. Was skeptical but tried it and it does seem to be a slight improvement in most cases, however there are still a few times when the meat tastes better right off the grill or when resting seems to make no differe…

  • Was good meeting you today Woody. Glad I could help out so many local eggers, plus I needed the exercise of loading, hauling, and unloading 120 bags (2,640 lbs.) of lump anyway. By the way: I see two bags missing from that photo. Don't tell me yo…
