Smithfield is a brand (out of I believe North Carolina) that is quite common in my area and generally thought of as a good brand name. I use them all the time except when Kroger puts Baby backs on sale.
I had the same problem with high cost of red, yellow and orange bell peppers. Was able to satisfy my taste and budget by going to the frozen food section and getting Oriental Stir Fry veggies. This also has onions already in it.
