Thanks for your update. I too experienced difficulties lighting the charcoal(Royal Oak)when using rubbing alcohol. I'll use your approach next time. 407BGE is right, 93% rubbing alcohol is the way to go.

As a former firefighter for 30+ years, when a department had a working fire (A Big one) we would give a radio call that it was a "Signal 99". Thus when I work the egg...it's a signal 99 ....Big stuff is happening.
