I agree with you on most of your post; however I disagree with you about the use of JB Weld on the egg.
There are a lot of eggs repaired with JB Weld, and the mothership recommends it in some repairs. I've got four eggs of which two of them and ce…
Learning to have constant temps comes with practice and patience; and the learning curve is doable with both.
I don't understand the "coal" issue. Do you use lump?

Ron,
Like you I am confused as well. I think I can read between the lines in that he or she doesn't know how to cook on the egg.
Hate to see it, but it's their choice; so good luck with their next grill.

Purchase some JB Weld at your local hardware store; do as directed and you should be back in business.
Hope this helps! You're both right; while glue isn't the same as JBW, it has alot of the same characteristics.

Evans,
The red vermouth(sweet) has a lot of various herbs and spices that enhance either in a mixed drink; straight or in cooking.
The vermouth I use is an american vermouth that won the gold trophy, fair of Rome honors against all the big names. …
The Nomex gasket is wider than the rim of the ceramic. When applying the gasket; make sure that the inside of the rim and the gasket is aligned together. There is no need to trim the gasket. The gasket will contract.
On any gasket, do not let it…
I agree with you about the plate setter. It needs work.
I fully believe that the XL is a work in progress. There has been many positive improvements in the design; spring assisted bands; dome; etc; and it is only a matter of time before the plate…
I don't have an answer for you. I don't know, and have asked the question several times. I do know that the mothership has a good supply, and I have been told that the sales for the Nomex has been good.
If I made the decision; every dealer would …
I have two larges and two xl's. I personally prefer the XL because of the grid space, and the capability of cooking for a large group if necessary; but I can just as easily cook for two.
Yes, it's a big cooker; requires more lump; etc. In the pas…
As GG said, I have been testing the Nomex for now close to two years. I personally have had no problems with the gasket or the adhesive. Some members have said that they have had problems with the adhesive. I have not.

Thanks Kent! The wife and I are fortunate. Some of the folks close around had trees through their homes.
I was outside and heard the tornado; never saw it; but when the trees starting crackin and falling I went looking for shelter; but I made sur…
Broc,
The green cap can be used to regulate the cooking process. It was what a lot of folks used before the daisy. Like you said, it is used today primarily as a way to shut the egg down.
The daisy is a third or fourth improvement or more in the…
Welcome to Eggdome Matt! There are a lot of great folks on the forum, and a lot from the Great State of Mississippi, and several of them have already chimed in.
The table looks great, and it won't be long before you have to either enlarge it; or b…
T,
Thanks! I've kept up with all that has been happening on the forum, but was tied up in a Congressional race as well as trying to keep up with the legislature in the closing days of this session.
But, John has sent me some new things to test; s…
Good process and instructions. A couple of things you might want to try in the future.
1. Put acetone on the old gasket; it will strip the old gasket quickly.
2. Use a Mapp torch on the rims to burn off/remove any residual adhesive as well as t…
Looks like a good job! In testing the Nomex for over a year; I have used many different configurations on preparing the rims for the gasket; but your's take it a step forward.
Thanks for the pic!

I respectfully disagree with you in that the Nomex gasket is a joke. I'm sorry that you were disappointed with the gasket; but I have had no problems with it.
If you want to switch to the Rutland, please do; however I would advise that you contact…
Sorry to hear about your problem. I have been using the Nomex for over a year. I've had no problems with it, and the tests were positive.
I am aware of several folks saying that they have experienced problems with the adhesive, including Bente i…
