  • When I'm catching blues to smoke I don't bother cutting out the bloodline. I just stun 'em, bleed 'em, and chuck 'em on ice ASAP. Filet and scale them at the end of the trip, then cook similar to the method in the OP. We usually serve it with a chee…
  • Great looking cook as always Donnie! Any time I see you're doing a cook up for the church I know it's must see BBQ goodness. By the way, if you're running low on the Aardvark you can get it shipped to you on amazon now adays (or I'd be happy to send…
  • I was sent some mulberry in the 4th of July BBQ exchange a few years back and really enjoyed it. The above comments are spot on, mild and sweet with a hint of tang is exactly how I'd describe it.  It it was very good on chicken, so so on pork. I al…
  • Fun fact: He is the only actor ever to be killed by A Terminator, a Predator, and an Alien
  • I've done these as well but substituted maple syrup in for the sugar. They really are amazing!
  • Looks killer!
  • The High West Distilery is a great place for some good pub food and cocktails. For something a little bit fancier Zoom is a fantastic place for an upscale dinner out with friends which incidentally is owned by Robert Redford so keep an eye out if yo…

  • The Grinch (animated version) Die Hard Home Alone Scrooged  christmas vacation  love actually (only rom-com I can stomach, but it's great)
  • It's a great starter unit Scottie, you should get a good feel for SV cooking for sure. I was debating several different models and ended up settling on that one and it's worked great for myself and the lovely lady. If I was looking to cook for a m…
  • I absolutely LOVE to mix some diced roasted hatch with pulled pork and make panini style sandwiches on the blackstone with pickles, pepper jack and a sauce we love around my place: mayo and secret aardvark (a habanero hot sauce.... amazing stuff). N…
  • I'm with HeavyG on this one. I really wanted to like the show but more often than not the panel segments turned into a bit of a jumbled mess and some of the recurring bits were just the same joke over and over again (especially the Nightly Nightly b…
  • I sure have. Usually I'll go indirect at 425-450 with the bird in a CI skillet. You can toss some potatoes, carrots ect in the pan to roast up in the chicken juices as well. Usually when I'm doing a cook like this I'll go with standard "roast chicke…
  • It's official, the Buffalo has struck and the OP can feel safe perusing the forums again.  Although the OP does have a point. Usually the crazier threads are easy to identify, however when someone clicks on a thread called Lump Choice or how to lig…
  • I actually have one. I was trying to post about it in another thread and somehow revived this thread from 2009.... No idea how I managed that. Don't drink and post guys, it's dangerous.
  • I picked up the smokeware cap and love it. I haven't used the daisy wheel or ceramic cap since. You never have to worry about the rain and you also don't have to worry about your Daisy wheel sliding and losing your setting when you open the lid.  h…
  • Thats a nice little DIY solution you've got there. Does it make the egg run hotter? I know if you cut the bottom of a coffe can off and put it over the top of the egg it causes it to kick into turbo. Something about how it affects the airflow.
  • Julius IPA from Tree House Brewing.
  • Nice to see the Secret Aardvark in the mix Donnie. Is that still the same bottle I sent you last year for the exchange or did you re-up? The chicken looks amazing! I've been meaning to give the white sauce a try but have never gotten around to it y…
  • @Jeepster47 somehow I'm guessing that "thinking rationally" didn't play much of a roll in the planing of this
  • They used dummies to practice the physics of the stunt. Apparently one dummy went straight through the net smashing into the ground and the guys response was "it's ok that's why we do the test runs"
  • Sap from Treehouse Brewing.  For those who know I've also got 2L of Green and 2L of Julius on ice for later..... Life is good!
  • That pulled pork looks amazing! Anyway thanks for the package @Mantoothian the sauces look delicious! Any recommendations on what to use the different flavors on?
  • @cazzy who was my mystery elf? I'd like to extend a proper thank you.
  • Ozzie_Isaac said: Fill up with lump to the bottom of your indirect stone.  Reading your description it sounds like you had 3lbs of lump.  If that is true it is easy for the fire to go out. 100% agree with this.  Always fill up your egg/…
  • Thanks for the feedback. The two slabs just hit the egg, I'll post the results.
  • @blasting the best way I could put it is that it's much like cooking a spatchcock chicken on the BGE vs another grill/cooker. Will the spatchcock come out good on another grill... sure, and the flavors and spices used will taste about the same. How…
  • My pleasure! She was a wonderful woman and I like to think she lives on through the beans (and the old stories we tell while scarfing them down).   I highly recommend trying out the recipe..... I guarantee it'll give those doctored Bush's a run for…
  • Here is a link to a thread I made a while ago that has a baked bean recipe in it that originally came from my great grandmother. The recipe card in it is in my Grams handwriting. It's an amazing recipe and I highly recommend trying it out! Also, th…
