Hello Friends,
Egghatter here to let you know that Jay's knee replacement surgery today lasted from about 1pm till 5pm. He's looking rough, but he has his hands on the pain drip button and the TV remote so he is set for the night. He is attached to a machine that slowly bends and relaxes his knee in passive exercise which will be removed tonight sometime. I watched someone take the saline and blood from his leg drain and put it through a machine to "wash" it by separating them. Then they will give him back his blood. Sounds like a horror movie, doesn't it? I am just getting over bronchitis and 100 degree fevers from Sunday thru Tuesday. I guess I'll have to learn to light an Egg when Jay gets home, cause guess who will be doing the cooking!

As for you my dear, get some good rest tonight, and get well!!! Thanks for taking the time to update us! Take care of yourself please. Jay has folks to do that for him for the moment! You gotta get yourself well, too!

Glad he made it through the surgery fine. Now is recovery time for both of you... Right after surgery is not fun for anyone, so I hope you both get some rest and that he heals fast... Prayers coming your way...

thanks for the update Kathy. Been wondering. I've heard this is somewhat of a speedy recovery...make sure he follows docs orders...and yours. give him a hug from me...and you take care too.

Good to hear he is set for the evening. Cell saver technology is great. I've hear of it used during surgery but not for wound drainage. Amazing how technology is progressing.
-
I am praying he has a quiet night and a speedy recovery for both of you.

Egghatter, That's great news. For a time the pain pump will be your friend. It sounds like you had four long hours to wait. Tell him 2Fat asked about him when the time is right.
About two years ago my father under went double knee replacement surgery another words both knees at one time. He said he would never do that again.
Well wishes for a speedy recovery. Tim -
thanks for touching base with us all Kathy! give him a hug and you too! now you need to get better before he comes home LOL and you will be fine on the egg, just fine.. maybe you can get him a bull horn so he can give directions from the couch?? :pinch:
-
Thank goodness he's ok! I was getting worried when I didn't see an update last evening.
I hope you both get to feeling better soon!
Speedy Recovery! -
Sounds all too familiar. I hope there are no complications, especially during the early period just after the surgery. That's when the therapy is needed most before the scar tissue forms. I had some complications and five months later I'm still trying to catch up.
But at least I don't have that $#@& arthritis pain in the knee and I'm down 448 ounces from pre surgery.
He will be fine.
Sorry to hear about your bronchitis. That hurts.

Good Morning Egg Friends,
I'm getting ready to go to work but I wanted to tell you that reading all of your messages was the best food for the soul. When I see him after work today I will take my computer long and give Jay a dose, too. I do expect that he will coach me from the couch about cooking, but he will not need a bullhorn! Oh, and I wanted to share with you that while waiting in pre-op Jay somehow got online and started showing the nurses all the great food pictures he has saved. Yes, there was drooling.
Cook on!Have a GREAT day!
Jay

The pain from surgery will fade really fast in a few days. It'll be rough going for a few days in the beginning but do what the physical therapists tell you to do and you'll be out skipping rope in no time.
How do I know this? I've had both knees replaced. -
Way to go Jay. Planting the seed. :woohoo: Thanks, Kathy
-
Our best to the both of you....good luck
