I see a lot of members seem to use this product. I went to the site and was going to order some. I was just curious how much is really 8 oz.? At $9 I just want to make sure I'm getting a decent amount. Thanks!

8 oz=1 cup. 8 0z= 1/2 pound.
-
Hoss,
What if it was 8 oz. of rocks vs. 8 oz. of feathers (volume)? how many pounds? -
LOL I know that! 8oz of something could fill more than a physical cup. If I measured out a cup, that wouldn't cover a slab of ribs for me LOL.
Edit: because I'm an idiot.-Eddie -
Eddie,
Maybe a good way for you to go is order a sample pack of each. I am at the point that I need to start getting a couple of them in 2 pound bags. :woohoo: But then again I pretty much have a 300 lb stash of lump at all times too. :P
DP rubs rock and you sure won't be sorry. -
It's a bit cheaper in a retail store.
-
He is buying rub. :P
-
Thanks Adam. Thats what I hear. I just dont want to have to order every week LOL. So maybe bulk is the way to go.-Eddie
-
Thanks Bob. I have been looking locally but haven't found it. Although I haven't checked at the BGE dealers. Maybe I should LOL-Eddie

The plastic bottle is the standard one you see everywhere with rubs. The content is filled to about 4.25" and the bottle diameter is about 2.125". You won't be disappointed - Chris makes mighty fine products!Re-gasketing America one yard at a time.

I'd say Dizzy Dust in bulk for sure. either grind or both.
You can mix it with some of the others and kick out some killer grub.
Dizzy Dust and Raging river on ribs is great and recently Swamp Venom and Raging river on shrimp (hit hard and then a couple hours in the frig) is outa control good. -
That my friend is exactly what i was looking for!! Thank you kindly RRP!-Eddie

How much you use at any time depends some on what you are rubbing, and your personal preferences. DP happens to have a guide to the amount of rub for different uses in their #3 newsletter. Its available at:
http://www.dizzypigbbq.com/news.html
I've never had any DP that wasn't really fresh, and so the flavors and aromas are always quite strong. Compared to some other rubs I've had, I use less. Recently I used some rub that was mostly sugar, and I put on twice as much as I would have for something like DP Swamp Venom. -
Howdy! And thanks everyone for the kind words.
It's actually a cup...by volume. The weights vary by rub.
The bottle will season 30-40 pounds of meat.
Thanks for considering Dizzy.
Cheers
Chris -
1 unopened DP seasoning and an empty 1 cup measuring vessle.
1 empty DP seasoning bottle and a full 1 cup measuring vessle.
That is how much rub is in 1, 8 oz bottle. Hope this helps. -
I rubbed one rack of ribs down with Dizzy Dust this weekend and it probably took about 1/8 of the bottle, maybe even less. Of course you could put it on heavier, but for me that was well-seasoned.
-
Chris,
It's just like the Egg. No magic, just top quality stuff. -
Thank you Adam.
Beers (well, not just yet

Thanks gdenby. I appreciate you digging out the newsletter for me!-Eddie

Chris, Cindy and I missed you at the Jack this year. We found Hatch and Shot Gun Fred and Bob and the others we were able to loaf around like last year. Maybe we'll see you soon or next go around. It was a lot warmer this year. Tim
-
We missed all yall. Was tough sitting home for the first time in 7 years, but nice to see our friends do so well! I did hear the weather was warm. Think it has rained at least one day of the previous 6 Jacks.
Cheers bro.
Chris -
Last night very bad storms rolled through all of Tennessee and there were tornadoes and straight line winds reported just north of Lynchburg.
-
We use Dizzy Pig on at least two of our entries every time we compete.
I think they did the trick just fine last weekend.
Thanks Again Chris,
Kenny -
You will not be disappointed in the size, but I agree you can find them cheaper in retail store. If not I agree Chris makes great stuff and it is well worth the money.

Just used Dizzy Dust to make the wing recipe (coated wings) on tDizzy Pig's site. I paid $8.25 locally for the 8oz. bottle of DD and it yielded 1 cup give or take.
I have never used the DD before, and used it that recipe and I have to say it didn't have much flavor. Perhaps I should have used it at full strength to coat the wings?
I typically use a rub that I make from the Dinosaur BBQ cookbook (all-purpose red-rub) which is extremely flavorful, but decided to try the DD. Perhaps I should try a more potent rub next time in that wing recipe. -
I go with swamp venom when I do the wings. Comes out amazing.
