How much pulled pork

I have agreed to cook pulled pork for everyone at work. Not sure of the final numbers but will be close to 30 people or so.

How much pork butt do I buy? I can only buy about six pound pork butts from the local butcher so I will have to buy several. I find it takes about 8-9 hours to cook these.

Do people have suggestions on how to keep the pork warm for 5 hours or how to reheat it. We do not have a stove at work so it has to be crock pot or on a bbq!

Double wrap in foil and towels and put in cooler prior to pulling. If needed to reheat I put in foil pan and reheat on a grill of any type (even.... :pinch: :pinch: gas)

So, to be sure there is enough, let's figure 1/3 lb per person. If you are feeding 30 then you need 10 lbs of cooked product. With roughly 40% shrink, that translates into about 16 lbs of raw pork butt. So buy 3 of your 6lb'ers and you should be set to go.

If you know how long it takes you to cook those size butts, back up the time and put them on where they will be done an hour before you have to levae for work. When they are done, double wrap in foil and wrap in an old towel. Put them all in the same cooler and they will stay hot for 4-5 hours safely. Get a couple foil pans and pull them at work before serving. This will be the freshest way to do it. I would unwrap the butts from the towels and sit them out about 30 minutes before you start pulling. That way you don't burn the little tootsies too much when you reach in and start working with the meat.

Pulling pork today for a party. We pull it and put it in a crock pot on low to keep warm.
