How do you light your egg

Hi, long time smoker, but just bought an egg. I'm wondering what the different lighting methods are and what do you prefer? I have a chimney starter and I have a weed burner, and I use both with my offset. Thoughts?

I am not too creative. I use the starter cube broken in half, most of the time. I have also rolled up a paper towel coated lightly with oil in a pinch.
I like to let the cube go and egg head while I am prepping the meat. I kind of have it figured on how long it takes to light and then how long ot get up to temp once I put the platesetter in.. -
Great tool. Good on cigars also. BUT your weed burner will work.

I've used pretty much everything but a weed burner and have ended up settling on an electric starter for most of my cooks and a chimney starter for super long cooks.

Weedburner.

If I'm not in a hurry I just break a starter cube or two in half and drink a beer while it does it's magic. If time is an issue I use a MAPP torch.Larry

Mapp torch. Fast and easy. Plus I use it for more than just lighting my Egg.

BBQ Guru 5-in-1 tool. Jam it in the coals and let her rip for 3-5 minutes.

torch. I keep some cubes on hand if I'm feeling a relaxed beverage or two is needed but the torch is too easy and fast.

Did mapp for a while, then I discovered the weed burner.

Chimney starter with newspaper/oil.

I have never seen that and I visit their site often. That looks like a really creative tool. Do you recommend it? Thanks for introducing me to something new and making me spend more money for my BBQ toy addiction.

Mapp but just bought a weedburner and want to try it out....Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers.

I use a chimney starter w/newspaper in my weber kettle that now sits otherwise unused next to my egg table. I only use weber sparingly now and think its only fair to let it continue to participate in some way. Poor thing.

I am not sure I like the fact that not only do you have my name but the fact that I think you went to UofI. This offends a nice Leatherneck lad like myself. I challenge you to an egg off. Please tell me where you live, I will find a subtable halfway point and rob my nearest dealer of 2 larges. Please bring whiskeys

I am too much of a window licker to mess with weed burners or anything like that.
I used to always use the weber cubes and loved them.
When I got my small at Peoria Eggfest they threw in a box of Rutland fire starters (very similar to the BGE kind). I have not looked back.
These things are awesome. I like them so much that I recently switches to an unused box of BGE starters I bought last summer that I never used. I am afraid of running out of the Rutlands so I am not using anymore until I horde a few boxes.
Also I am weird with my fire. I like to see how large of a fire I can make without using much of a starter. Like I will tear off a small corner piece or 2, like maybe half the size of a penny and see what kind of magic I can work. I also have summers off and have time to **** around and pound drinks while I do this. During the school year and when it is crappy out, I don't mess around, unless I am drinking  -
Weber cube.
