Daisy Wheel keeps falling off

I've only had my large BGE for a few days, and the daisy wheel has fallen off three times already when I've opened the lid. I've searched this forum and it seems like nobody else has this problem. Could I have assembled something incorrectly? Could I have been supplied with wrong part? Is the XL daisy wheel larger? It won't fall off if I open slowly, but sooner or later it's bound to happen again and put yet another big divot in my deck. Any ideas?

Everything's level and the egg doesn't rock at all.

Sounds like it may be a slider problem. Position the DW where the pivot pin for the slider is in direct line with and facing the handle. The slider will eventually gunk up enough where this won't be a problem.

I had the same problem with mine. What I did to fix was make sure the bands were fully up or down on the lid/base to allign the dome & snugged up all of the bolts on the hinge assembly, don't crank them tight. Mine were pretty loose which gave the hinge just enough "extra" travel to cause a problem.

I had the same problem early on. It was when I was too enthusiastic in opening the lid to see the progress. Remember to "burp" the egg and open the lid a little slower.

I've never had that problem with any of my eggs, but did notice a lot of the eggs at OKC Eggfest had that problem. They were falling off all over the place! Temp solution there was a little duct tape wrapped around the top under the daisywheel.

Make sure the screw that holds the slider together is facing forward toward the vent or the handle. This will also prevent losing your temp settings when opening the dome.
