Does anyone have any tips on cooking a whole wild turkey? Seasoning, cooking time, temp, etc?[p]Thanks

  • cardsfan,[p]I've only cooked one a couple of years ago... They do not have the breasts that our farmed turkeys do. Therefore, watch the temp in the breast, to make sure it doesn't dry out.

    cardsfan,
The best way to cook a wild turkey is to cut the breast into strips, flour and fry it.The rest is just to tough and has.

    cardsfan,
I think Larry has it right. Brasing is probably another useful method. We've tried two roasted like standard turkey: brined, roasted at 350, with and without smoke, breast temp 160, and they still were dry, tough and not worth the buckshot.
