Is BGE Thermometer weatherproof

Hi all
New to the BGE (XL and loving it). Two quick questions: 1-I will be leaving the BGE out in my backyard uncovered for the immediate future. Does the thermometer get ruined by the rain? 2-Can the plate setter be left out in the weather? Before winter I will start covering the BGE and get a weatherproof box for the eggcessories. Since firing it up for the first time this weekend, 3 spatchcocked chickens and 3 racks of ribs. Thanks for any responses.

Both can take the weather... some will tell you it is not good for the plate setter, I'm not of that camp.

Last winter I cooked pizzas during a blizzard and ended up with moisture inside my thermometer. It would clear up some as the egg heated up and when the weather warmed up it disappeared completely.

The thermometer is not waterproof and will sometimes fog if it gets wet. This usually clears when it heats up and doesn't seem o be a real issue. We get 20°F below winters and I leave my plate setter out year round - 4 years no problems.

Just store your platesetter inside the egg when not in use
