Can anyone tell me how much faster it really is to use the electric starter for the egg? Thanks and God Bless

    I used an electric starter for several years, and I'd say it's faster than starter cubes, but not anywhere near the speed of a MAPP torch. I use the "oiled paper towel" method now and I'm happy with how quickly it comes to temp now...faster than an electric starter and I don't have to time the thing or deal with a red-hot heating element for several minutes after I start my Egg.

    I use a heat gun from my local hardware store. Works like a charm, takes about 2 minutes.
