peach tree wood

I have a peach tree that is slowly biting the dust.The fruit and the bark have sap coming out of it. Can I save the wood for smoking flavor or is it gone.

It really would be worth trying. Do you know what is causing the problem, pests, age, etc? Peach should be like the other fruitwoods, light & sweet flavor.

It should make great smoking wood, just be careful that there is no mold in it
Peel any loose bark, etc.
