I just hung up the phone from Chip...a friend of Carwash Mike and his family for a very long time. Though Chip was kind enough to post his phone #, please refrain from calling. He is quite torn up at this time, and I think we should all respect his privacy in this terrible time.
Carwash Mike was found deceased in his home today. A very sad day for all of us to say the least. He has been a well known forum member with tons of great input over the years...and is famous for his CWM Rib Method.
We will keep everyone informed of funeral arrangements as soon as we can. A very sad day for the Egg Nation to say the least.
Carwash Mike....May you rest in peace. You will be missed our friend.

    RIP CWM

The DudeThis is a very complicated case, Maude. You know, a lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what-have-you's. And, uh, lotta strands to keep in my head, man. Lotta strands in old Duder's head. Luckily I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug regimen to keep my mind, you know, limber.

I suppose God wanted some ribs and called upon our beloved pitmaster, Car Wash Mike. I feel privileged to have befriended Mike and to have learned so much from him.

I have never met Mike but he helped me several times and also commented on some of my cooks . He sure was devoted to the forum and was consistently a source of education and direction when cooking ribs . I certainly will miss his replies and advice. May God comfort and bless his family and friends with peaceful thoughts. God Bless You Mike for being such an inspiration

I can not believe this! I remember my first rib cook on the egg, not first rib cook ever though. I had heard so many great things about his method, but I prepared them the way I had grown accustomed to since I wanted to keep it simple for a first rib cook on a new tool. After I posted he commented on how great they looked and asked me about the sauce I had made. It was a privilege and meant a lot to me to have a "rib legend" ask about how I did mine. I pray for peace among his family at this time..

Mike was a real friend to me...one of the first eggheads I met. I was also honored to be sitting at the same judges table at the OKC fest this year as Iron Egg chef competition began.

I am in total shock and am sad for the loss of a great friend.

I met Mike on this forum a few years back and we really hit it off at the Omaha Eggfest. I had Mike cook with me at a couple contest. In 2008 I had him cook ribs for me in his parents home town of St.Joe. We finished 3rd in ribs and I've never seen someone so proud walking up to awards. I felt so great and proud for Mike.

Over the last couple years he has come out to contest when I was in the area. I also had the privilege to go to Mike's house and spend the afternoon cooking with him.

Earlier this year I had the opportunity to stop in his restaurant with a contest only a few miles away. It was a nice setup, perfect for him. I know he loved it.

RIP Mike. You are a true fried and will be dearly missed by all.

I've had to privilege of cooking with him the past few Eggtoberfests. He's been generous enough to join me for lunch a couple times when I've visited Kansas City, and he even joined me at my house to celebrate my birthday last year.

I'm saddened, shocked, and disturbed. Rest in peace Mike.

Sad to hear this news. Met Mike while cooking next to him at the Denver Fest last year. Very nice man and even asked little newbie me about my methods. These boards and the world are lesser today.

I'm stunned. Just goes to show that you better enjoy each and every day with your loved ones as there is no guarantee there will be a tomorrow. From what I read I hope he went in his sleep without pain. Bless ya my egger buddy...see ya later!
