Weekend Rib Competition

My good buddy Scott and I entered a little rib competition over the weekend, up in the north-woods and really had a blast. The contest organizers had told us we would be cooking Babybacks....they brought around Grandpabacks  these things had bones 1 1/4" wide and the racks spanned about 24 inches long. :pinch: It became man v pig more than man v man. The event was to feed the masses, of which were also the judges. All our competitors cooked all the ribs at once (15+/- racks) we decided to do them in 3 batches, to keep fresh ones coming throughout the day.
Oh, we won too by the way. Special thanks to Dizzy Pig rubs and Carnivore sauce for your great products. My favorite comments from the other guys "I make my own" :P suityourself
A few pics
Notice the canopy  the wind was really whippin. Fortunate too cause it was in the 90's

Great job. Lots of EGGS you have there. How many are yours? I'll have to look for that sauce. My weekend warrior ribs (meaning just me cooking ribs for fun) were sauced with bone suckin sauce (hot) and some trader joe's sauce, which is actually quite good. They were a big hit. My BBQ (butt) was said to be the best people have ever had. That's not to say that everyone on here's isn't pretty much the same. LOL. I'm sure they only compare against big BBQ joints. Anyways it's nice to get the little wins too.

Well done Adam - looks like a blast and Eggnation was well represented.

I've got a lg, sm and a mini. The medium was my partners cousins, who's got a cabin 2 doors down at the lake. Scott brought his large. I bet 20+ people asked if I was a dealer.
thanks -
Nice work Adam. That piece of paper next to the trophy in the last shot must be the Grand Prize check....$2,500?

Todd,
Felt like cheating :laugh great rubs...great sauce, off the greatest cooker. :woohoo:
Thanks again man our fearless postman dropped the sauce off at 3 pm on Fri and we had planned on leaving at 4. priceless -
It was a huge 'natural high' just representing the egghood.
I know that any proceeds would be used to help pay for the weekend festivities. As far as charities go, I think the Lions club was in charge of that with chops they cooked all afternoon. they do a great job and have a great cause. My old mans a Regional governor for that group and they do some wonderful things. -
Thanks Chris. I used the same D.Dust/R.River combo on some wings afterwords, for the cookers and then they wanted to know what the heck rub I was using.
-
It was a crispy ONE, just thought the huge trophy spoke clear enough
-
Thanks Frank, felt real good doing it.
-
thanks, we got lucky on a few. :P
-
most of the public would buy 10 bucks in tickets, which would get them 10 rib bones to sample. After going down the line and trying them all, they would come back to out table and want 5 more. the little old ladies would let ya know too. :P
-
Oh, and you left your "secret" spice weapon in plain view for your competition. LOL. At least in one of your pics. Any pics of your winning ribs? I should have took pics of my weekend cooking. I just forget. They did look great though I must say. Love my EGG.
