Why is there such a big secret about smokers and eggcessory prices that dealers are forbidden from posting prices on there web sites? Is it because BGE wants us to buy locally?

So far as I know, there are no authorized, on-line dealers. You need to look at the info on the BGE website about warranty.

I got my large for $749 plus tax.

I do not think it is so much a secret as it is just buisness.
Go into two Kroger stores in different areas of your town with the same list & you will find the same items with differing prices.
Now consider these thoughts. Different dealers may include different accessories in their basic package, so untill you compare each individual price and package you will have no idea. How could EVERY variation of that be posted. Then consider that shipping costs vary around the country & WILL affect any dealers cost thus affecting the prices they can offer. -
Dealers are not allowed to sell online. Posting prices online could imply to a potential customer they sell online.
Plain and simple internet sales void the warranty. -

I'll just say I appreciate that the board doesn't spend all day talking about how much an egg costs, and that we talk about cooking most of the time.
Sure everyone wants a good deal when you buy an egg, and there are price swings in different vendors, and the price seems to have jumped fairly steeply the last two years. With all that said, I think they are still worth it."Bacon tastes gooood, pork chops taste gooood." - Vincent Vega, Pulp Fiction

It's the same ith many of the pellet grill mfgr's and pricing/buying online. You can email or call them and get a quote, but otherwise not. Keeps things on a level playing field for the dealers, I think, and takes the retail sales component to a dealer level, not the mfg level.

Dealers are not supposed to sell on the Internet, but there is little incentive to do so. High shipping prices and lost warranty. Also, depending on where dealers are in the county, shipping from the distributor has to factor into the retail price. Therefor retail prices will vary around the country.
