I've had a large Egg for 1 1/2 yrs now - for Father's day, the lil missus gave me shelves. I don't have the spring guards anymore to remove the tops straps and install the shelves. Any recommendations?

Zip Ties.

Another vote for the zip ties, or wire ties.
I treated myself to the wood shelves for my large.
Before I put them on, I put several coats of water based poly on the wood. They look fantastic. Some of the untreated shelves in other's pictures look pretty nasty.
For what BGE charges for these things, you would think they would come treated. Oh well -
If your careful and have a helper you can have the helper hold the dome open and carefully use a screwdriver to pop the springs off. Do one at first and put it back on with a needle nose pliers. Then carefully set the dome down. easy peasy Tim
