OT- Plate ID Help

OK I've Googled every possible permutation of the terms: aluminum, plate, platter, mad in Japan, Aluminum Housewares Inc. and have found squat on these.

Any ideas as to what they were intended for? My dad dropped them off as he got them for practically nothing at a garage sale.

My guess is some type of fish serving dish given the pattern. In any case I know have 8 pretty sharp looking platters.

It's called a 'steak platter'.

Bertcha heat them up and put a steak on it to keep it warm through dinner. The wood deal allows you to handle it. The lower areas, in the aluminum plate, look to be a place for juices to run and gather.

Many years ago I saw them used in a steak restaurant, they would super heat the AL plate put the steak on it and bring it to the table on the wood server sizzling away.

WOW! Thanks for the quick help and to all the others as well. So I guess I'm ready for cooking a LOT more staek. For me though it will be a pork chop plate.

Steak Plate - for years we would cook a steak under the broiler on steak plates. Couple pats of butter and under the broiler close to the element for 5 minutes, flip and the same for the other side.

Carwash Mike uses his on the Egg all the time. We use them quite often as well.

We used to use ours for steak but that was years ago - I don't remember using them for anything but seafood for the last several years.

You really seem to have these mastered. If I send you mine can you send them back as they look in your pictures?

Now I'm really hyped about seeing what I can do with all 8 on the XL. It would be really need to do 8 "1 Plate" type meals on these.

my granny used to serve fried flounder on them :woohoo:
her neighbor was a shrimper and could not sell the flounder, so quite often, we would have Sunday afternoon flounder fries, a minimum of 2 whole ones each :woohoo: -- I was a very skinny little girl, then, too
