Hello,

My Kitchen Aid meat grinder attachment appears to have grease coming through it from the motor, and into the food. Wondering if any of ya'll have had this problem and what the fix is.

Thanks!

The DudeThis is a very complicated case, Maude. You know, a lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what-have-you's. And, uh, lotta strands to keep in my head, man. Lotta strands in old Duder's head. Luckily I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug regimen to keep my mind, you know, limber.

Walter SobchakNihilists! *uck me. I mean, say what you want about the tenets of National Socialism, Dude, at least it's an ethos.

Grease will come out of the grinder and or grease will come out from the head. The grease on the grinder will be seen as black spots in the ground meat and or mixed in with the fattier pieces stuck inside the grinder on the blade.

The grease out of the head was somewhat clear for me. Too much work on the motor and everything got too hot. I suspect the same happened with you.

If by chance your KA is less than a year old call KA folks, you will need a receipt and they will send out a new unit at N/C.

When I talked with a service rep. I was told the grinder should not be used more than 7 minutes and the mixer should not be used more than 10 to 15 minutes at a time. Seemed short to me but that's what he said.

With that said, there are plenty of people on the forum that grind 15# at a time and have great results. I didn't and bought a dedicated meat grinder and vertical stuffer.

You may have to do a repair on your KA if out of warranty.

Member Bente posted a great how to with pictures on the repair of his KA as well as posting the place where he got his parts.

I didn't save the forum link but here is the title he used and you should be able to do a search and find the post.

If you can't find the post email me. I copied his post and saved it for future reference and will be happy to email it.
