Just put on two pork butts and am trying the digiQ for the first time. Have it set for pit 225 and it seems to be maintaining. The BGE thermometer is at 300, should there be such a difference between the two?
Comments welcome.
thanks

GP, I usually see a difference of 50 degrees or so between the grid and Dome. You might want to check you dome Thermo in boiling water to make sure it is correct.

I recently bought the DigiQDX and am on my third cook with it. I have not seen those temp swings. My Q is set to 225 and my dome has always been 250 or less and the longer it is into the cook the closer the dome gets to my DigiQ pit temp. It's always a little higher but not much. Check to make sure the damper on the Pit Viper (fan) is only about 1/4 open.

It might just be where you have the pit sensor clipped, or it might be that your BGE dial thermo is off. Dunk the probes into boiling water and see what you get.
