  • Hi all, I'm new to the forum and have been eggsperimentin' with my large BGE for the past two years. I bought it as a retirement gift to myself. I live in the shadow of Mt. Rainier in Washington state on Carbon River.
I am looking forward to the upcoming eggfest in Kent June 5, as well as sharing cooking experiences here on the forum.

  • Great idea!

My name is Stan, I've egged for a year now, although I had been desiring one for a little while. When I retired after 20 years in the USAF my wife let me buy myself a BGE as a present to myself. We have 3 teenaged sons, the 1st about to head to college.

I teach Logistics and Supply Chain Management at Michigan State University and used my Egg this year to host a dinner that the MBA students donated money to charity to 'win', great fun all the way around.

I'm a bit of a car fan as well, and my most interesting current ride is a 1952 MG TD that has been in the family 10 years longer than I have.
  • Hi...I'm Gary. I love this forum, even though I rarely post. The wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm on this forum is like nothing I've ever seen.

I bought an XL a year ago and since then, my wife thinks I have a "meat obsession". I can't stop talking about the egg...yada,yada,yada, my buddy Ryan bought a large and my brother is going to buy an XL. I bet another year doesn't go by and I will own a large. Why wouldn't I... I just bought a stoker for 2 cookers?

I will be 40 this year, celebrating my 12th wedding Anniversary with Becky and my twin girls will be 2 in July. We live in Wildwood, MO and are huge Cardinal Fans.

A quick shoutout to Third Eye(for his tools), Lawn Ranger(for his custom handles), and all the eggheads with a passion for the flame.

    Hi,
I live in a small town. I am a simple kind of man. I am lucky to own three green eggs... see my profile and blessed with three children 1 girl 4yrs old, 2 boys ( 2 and 1 year old respectively). My wife likes my cooking... I even got her to be an BGE once at Halloween party see my profile picture (our secret SHHH). I have been egging since 2006. My favorite cook is the one that I am planning next or the one I might be having now  I have converted two of my neigbors from gas grills to eggs now :silly: so I must be a decent cook right ;) We all know it is the magic of the egg and the good advice from this forum.
    Wish you all the best

Three things about me non-egg related.
    1) Member of Gideons International www.gideons.org

I too am a simple country boy, living, loving and trying to appreciate the good things in life; good friends, good food, and nature.
My passions in life are: For the last 4 years, outdoor cooking, (was mostly C.I. Dutch oven cooking), but now, especially, with my large BGE, country style living, (gardening, animal watching etc.) and of course, motorcycle riding are my passions in life.
I've been extremely lucky to have ridden around the world a couple times, and around the southern half of Africa, on my beloved old bmw motorcycle.
I've got lots and lot's of great stories, interesting people and many very strange plates of food to share. (and hopefully remember!)
I've lived in a houseboat for 21 years now, with my girlfriend Lin, that I used to float in the lower Puget Sound, but is now high and dry surrounded by beautiful forest, with my ancient but wonderful Jack Russell Terrier, "Randall", in Dexter Oregon, right at the base of the foothills of the Cascade Mtns, S.E. of Eugene.
I really enjoy this forum, trying to spend a little time here every day.
The bickering and meanness disheartens me.
I've not seen the level of meanness to such a degree in any other forum I've been a member of, including many motorcycle forums.
This thread is great! I hope we all try to be a bit more civil and understanding...maybe either bite our tongues a bit more, or just ignore...
    Peace out-

I'm a Colorado Springs native. Raised my son on my own, with some help from the village. Mom always cooked and baked, I was underfoot. Four siblings and there was no grill in sight. The minute I moved out, at 16, I bought a hibatchi. The grills got larger as I got older. I've never owned a Weber. My first forum I joined was the barbeque bible. That was 2005, I was on there for a year and a half. Someone mentioned ceramic outdoor cookers. Interested I was! BGE was mentioned. I looked here in town and nada. Contacted a friend in Denver and she found a joint that sold them. Got there and saw my first tregger and then my first egg. A few minutes of questions and I blurtted out, I'll take one. He said that is the only one we have. I said I'll take it and what kinda discount is there being a floor model. He ended up dismantling it and stuffed it in my car and I headed home. My son shortly after ended up not living with me. I was lost. That is what I did. I mothered. Thank goodness for the BGE and Center for Creative Leadership. My life changed and I'm so greatful!! I now have a large, medium and a mini. I love this place and the folks that I've met!!!

My name is Matt and I'm originally from the UK (all of which you could have deduced from the forum name :))

I currently live in The Woodlands, Texas which is a planned community North of Houston. My zip code is actually zoned as "Spring, TX", also the location of a rather famous member here.

I've lived all over the place - after leaving the UK I spent a long period in California with a couple of extended stints overseas (Indonesia and Hong Kong) before landing in Texas where I've been for the past couple of years.

I've had the Egg for about 18 months and we attended the last two Texas Eggfests (we cooked at the last one in fact). I cook several meals a week on the Egg and can now understand why people have more than one!

We met a few forum members at the Eggfest and had a great time - we're looking forward to meeting more!

My name is Richard and I live in Melboooring Florda. 30 minutes from the home of the shuttles.Hope I am not tooo late to this party. Julie you always have EGGcelent ideas, even for a southern hooker (Florida).

Got my first Kamado during some navy time in SE Asia, circa '67-'68. It lasted about 5 years and in a move it became a box of pieces.

Fast forward '03, my lady friend was representing a home owner who was selling his house and a large BGE and table were to go with the house. She asked if it were for sale and it came home for $350 with table.

'06 was at the Florida Ocala fest, the BGE sponsor's truck hit my little ole car and gave me a small for the minor fender bender.

Last fall we went to an estate sale and my friend Gloria bought a very well worn Imperial Kamado for $10. Her comment was if I can not restore it, she has a nice planter for the pool area. It has since been restored to cook in.

At the Sunshine State fest she won a medium and nest.

I have been cooking for pleasure and friends most of my life, chef in a chinese fast food joint for a year in the mid '90's, and collecting cookbooks and recipes are my relaxation. Gave up golf 20+ years ago.

Love this group when they are not howling at the moon.

By the way, did you notice that bill's description was woefully incomplete, almost to the point of deception? B)
