I really like Shun knives (though, there are better and cheaper alternatives), but I don't care too much for the Ken Onion Shun because of the handles.

Personally, they don't really feel very good in my hands.

I would highly recommend heading over to http://www.foodieforums.com/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?6-Fred-s-Cutlery-Forum and read up on what people have to say about knives.

How expensive are they? Is it worth just buying cheap ones and sharpening them? If so is it easy to sharpen?

The larger one was 300 and the smaller was 200. Sometimes W.S. has a sale on them. I steel them, but my butcher sharpens them for me.

i must have an eight and a five. i'd probably end up slicing one of my limbs off with a ten.

The 10 inch gives you a little extra "oomph" and a longer reach. I actually find myself using the 8 for more things. If you get one, I suggest the 8. Oh, you already have one.
