In an effort to maybe have some nice conversation... this has not been done in a LONG time. maybe if we know a bit more about each other we will find even more in common.
My name is Julie and I have been egging for about 7-8 years. I design and sell supplies to do hand hooked rugs, not latch hook, but the old fashion rug hooking that is done with wool fabric. I live in Maine summers and Florida winters and have two very spoiled little white dogs, two great sons, 2 daughter in laws and three grand children. My husband and I love old cars and have a few of those that he has spent a lot of time restoring. He is doing a '61 Falcon station wagon right now. He is a Pool boy by day though. we also have two vintage 50's "canned ham" campers we have redone that we haul with them. I have been here on the forum for awhile and have seen these spells come and go. It has been a little nastier this time but this is a great group of people that all started with just one thing in common the Big Green Egg... a lot of us have found friendships with people we would not have met otherwise and really care about each other. so what do you say? maybe some of the old eggers might not want to repeat this but how about some of you new eggers sharing a little about yourself? It really is a great feeling going to a fest and meeting these people in person. Most of them will give you the shirt off their backs to help any one that needs it. Julie the "Hooker"

I think it's a great idea....My name is Mark I've been egging only for about 3 months now. Made some good friends already and unfortunately some enemies. Hoping to correct that part of it by just saying I'm sorry. I'm looking forward to my first eggfest in Pittsburgh in July, wish I was brave enough to cook there. I hope things get back to normal in here....Not sure what normal would be with you guys!!!! Some of you guys are nuts :woohoo: and I can see me getting that way too :) Thanks again for giving me another chance

Hi I'm Doug and I have a problem. I live in Edmonton Alberta, Canada. I've owned my egg for almost exactly a year. I'm addicted. I've used up all my air miles going to eggfests. I cook every recipe I see posted here and even a few I don't.

I've met some of the best people in the world through this forum. Looking forward to meeting more of you and seeing my good friends again.

When I'm not egging, I play bridge, pool and football, roast coffee, design software, wok a fairly good meal, raise two beautiful daughters and one crazy wife and sometimes I sleep.

Thank you my friends for the good times, here's to many more.

    Doug

Julie I think this is a great idea.

My name is Frank and I bought my first Egg about ten months ago. I grew up in Louisville, KY and have worked on or around the water most of my life. I hold a 500 ton Masters License in the US Merchant Marine and have made my living operating passenger vessels on our river systems throughout the midwest. I am retired and also widowed. I lost my wife to cancer 4 yrs ago. I live in Florida, but still go up to the Cincinnati area
every summer to run a few trips and get my "river fix" for the year. I have a second LGBE in that area. I have met a lot of super people on this forum and gained a huge amount of knowledge at the same time. My hobby is woodworking and I have chimed in to answer questions about tables, finishes, etc, on several occasions. I hope to be able to add some worthwhile food info too.
    thanks for looking, :)

    Great idea Julie.

Hi. My name is Leroy, aka Spring (fill-in-the-blank) Chicken. I live in Spring Texas USA with my Sweetie of 36 years, Judy, aka Spring Hen. It’s no secret that I won her in a poker game in New Orleans.

We bought our first Big Green Egg, a large, in 1999. Since then we have added a small and a mini to the hutch.

Along the way we somehow come by the chicken handles and started calling our little .40 acres 'The Chicken Ranch.' We named our outdoor kitchen 'The Chicken Coop.' That's when we REALLY started having fun.

We both post regularly on the Big Green Egg Forum and encourage all Eggheads or potential Eggheads to check out the Forum to see why Eggheads are such a great group of people.

We have made many friends via the Forum over the years and have actually met a lot of them at various Eggfests around the country. Not surprising, they are all just as nice in person.

We have been around long enough to see many of the 'old-timers' leave for various reasons, but we have also enjoyed seeing a new generation of Eggheads come along. Most of them share the same enthusiasm that we have for Egg'n, so they are not only welcome, we eagerly read of their creativity and accomplishments on the Egg.

We realize that our little (but growing) Forum world is not perfect but even with its freckles, frowns and occasional floundering, it’s our favorite place on Earth to share our friendship with others.

I've been egging now for 8 years. Had 4 eggs, recently downsized to 2 eggs.

I'm not particularly good at cooking anything, but I love to try.

I'm a smartass. I love to pick on people. I have a reputation for telling it like it is. I make no apologies. A lot of people don't like me for it, but I sleep well at night.

I'm a government trained assassin, sniper, special weapons tech, SWAT team member, interrogator and investigator. I'm like the egg version of Jack Bauer.

Unfortunately my career devolved into running operations for a financial management firm and law partnership here in the northeastern burbs of Atlanta.

I love Eggfests...I throw one myself every year right before the Granddaddy of them all. I love meet-n-greets, pre-parties, after-parties, and all the parties in between. I believe life truly is too short to drink bad beer or whisky. I prefer reading as my form of entertainment above TV, movies, and the like.

I believe in the soul, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days.

    Hi Everyone!

My name is Diane and I've been an egghead for about 9 months now. My husband and I have been married for 8 months. We built a new home in Allen, TX with an outdoor kitchen where I was able to fulfill my dream of owning a BGE. We decided to have an open house where we surprised everyone by having our wedding during the party. It was perfect and I'm very blessed to have a wonderful husband.

I love to cook, so having a BGE was a natural. I'm a VP at a bank where I've had the pleasure of being employed for 32 years. It's the only job I've ever had. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats.

If not for the folks on this forum, I wouldn't be enjoying my BGE as much as I am. I consider the folks here to be my friends even though we haven't met in person. I hope to one day meet all of you to thank you for all the encouragement and help.

    Great idea Julie!!!

I am Gene and our family lives in Huntsville, AL. I first saw the egg around 2001. We purchased our first egg about 5 years ago. We currently have 4 eggs. I graduated from Florida and my wife from Alabama, hence the name crimsongator.

    Julie,

This is just what we needed doll,

My name is Steve, got a large egg back in the late eighties. Found this forum in about 2004. Lurked but was too overwhelmed to post for a couple of years. I learned a tremendous amount here on using the egg and a whole lot about traditional barbeque
From Toronto but live in Caledon Ontario.
Up to Eight eggs now..one of each and for larges.
Lost my Mom and Dad in a short period of time and lost my house to a fire as well. I don't know how I would have gotten through it if it weren't for the wonderful people here. I will never be able to thank them enough. My salutation is a excerpt from Anne of Green Gables and in my opinion suits the personalities on this forum perfectly.
These folks are precious...please show them a little respect.

    Steve
