Lookin' for lump in Cincinnati

Hello there. I have enjoyed this forum a lot for a variety of information. Thanks!
I have been a preaching egg convert for about 6 weeks now and have gone through 2 20 lb bags of lump. One was the BGE Lump that came with the grill and one was a Gordon Food Service branded black bag. Being a gas grill convert and having never cooked with charcoal, lump or otherwise, the BGE lump seemed nice and looked like hardwood. It had a decent burn time (what do I know though) and seemed to last longer (burn slower) than the Gordon Food. The GFS didn't look like it contained as much oak as the BGE brand, but I don't know what other hardwoods look like in it either.
I research everything, almost to a fault, but I bought the GFS lump because I figured I would try it out, $12/20 lb. Not to mention it wasn't really on The Naked Whiz's list. I also see that the BGE lump, was ranked really low (41).
So, the question is, where do I buy good lump in Cincinnati? Thanks in advance. Spatch

You're going to go through a lot of bags of charcoal...best thing is to just try a few and see what you like. Check around for prices. My Walmart carries Royal Oak (who also makes the BGE lump) for under $6.50 for a 10 lb bag. My Ace carries Frontier and Cowboy. Just see what suits you.

Kroger brand lump charcoal is made by Royal Oak. I use it all the time when I am in Cincy. It is about $5-6 for a 9lb [I think] bag. All i have bought has been excellent quality.
A word of caution. I did discover last year during the Holidays they move it off the shelves to make room for those paper fireplace logs, etc. So if you are planning to grill the Thanksgiving and/or Christmas Turkey, you need to stock up early.

We buy Royal Oak at Walmart in West Chester and will stock up for the winter in the fall. We have found that we can do a long cook like pork butt for 18 hours and not have to add more lumps during the cooking time when we use Royal Oak or BGE lump charcoal. Good Luck!

$6.37 for a 10# bag of Royal Oak lump at Walmart. This is the best price/quality I have found and always grab a bag or 2 a week...

Wicked Good ships via their website. I've got a dealer I can buy from but if I didn't, I would certainly pay to have it shipped.

I am using lump from the GFS at Bridgetown Road. I use the green bag, it is made by Royal Oak USA and is said to be Food grade ( what ever that means) I have tried several other brands but I have had real good results with their lump.

I bought the black bag from that same GFS previously. I'm in Westwood. I ended up going to Wally world and picked up 4 bags of the Royal Oak red bag for now. Thanks again!
