OK so I felt ambitious tonight and decided to try a recipe from the BGG EGG Cookbook. Cioppino on the EGG! It was a big hit! I know there wasn't any Crab in it but it was very good! I didnt get any raw pics cause it was quite labor intensive. There was Clams, Mussles, Calamari, Shrimp, Halibut, Cod, and Sea Scallops. :woohoo:

Looks great, maybe someday I will get that egg cookbook. Did you get any smokey flavor from cooking it on the Egg? If only you had a couple grungy dungies to go with it and an Anchor Steam beer or 6.
-
Yeah I know but Dungies dont make it to Ohio, lol. Had a nice bottle of wine or two or three! Oh and yes there was a nice hint of smokeyness!
-
That looks awesome! Can you post the recipe?
-
MAKO,
I will try and e-mail it to you in the next couple of days, It is a little too long to post. -
:woohoo:
Very nice
San Fran Wharf would be proud to serve that Cioppino :woohoo: -

That does look delicious. Wish I had access to some decent sea food around here to try something like that. Guess it's just beef stew for me. Nice post.

Mmmmm, that looks awesome. I'm a real sucker for these dishes. I've had cioppino in Frisco; boulliabase in Bar Harbor, ME; an awesome seafood risotto made with a red sauce in Windsor, ON...seafood creole...frutti di mare...whatever you call it, shellfish in red sauce is mighty fine with me.

Looks and sounds awesome

CG, this is perhaps my favorite food!!! I HAVE an Egg and I HAVE a CI Pot and I HAVE been inspired by this cook. Don't know if your recipe calls for it but a little grillin' on the ingredients would boost the smokiness factor. The email in my profile works. I'd love to have the recipe. Thanks for the delicious pics.

That looks delicious, great job!

Thoughts on Cioppino,I had a second go at this recipe, yesterday. The weather was great, too. Couple of thoughts about it though. The first time, I followed the ingredients (in the BGE book) to the letter but I don't think the fish they use is the best for that type of dish. Their recipe called for snapper and halibut but I found that both fish didn't survive the cooking process that well and fragmented. Second time, I used bigger chunks of monk fish and that worked well mostly because monk is a tough fish to break down, so it keeps it shape and, better still, it keeps some of its whiteness too.I also think the Pernod is added too early in the cook and boils off its flavour too much. With all the fennel and tarragon the outcome has to be aniseed--right?--so I also threw in a couple of star anise too but fished them out (heh!) before the serve. The only other thing was that I didn't bother with a Dutch oven but used a paella pan that happens to fit my medium egg.
