Gourmet Dogs and Brats

Thanks to what Anne posted last night, I tried her little trick to improve the look of hot dogs and brats on the BGE. Very simple to add diagonal cuts to the top of the dog/brat...but gives it a look that you can use to impress your friends and family!

When grilling dogs using this method, it is very important to maintain a cooking temperature between 500 and 525 degrees. Start with the cut side of the dogs down first for 90 to 100 seconds. Rotate one quarter turn and cook for 30 to 35 seconds, rotate and repeat, rotate and repeat until you reach an internal temperature of 140 degrees, then let the dogs rest for 2 minutes before serving.

Okay, just kidding on the cooking method. Dogs & brats are obviously meant to be cooked by sight only and served hot off the grill. Although you can tell I took great care in choosing the perfect side items on this gourmet two course meal.

Thanks for the idea, Anne. What a fun way to add some flair to the ultimate simple cook.
