Well, this one is in the can, we had a decent turn out for our first attempt, and considering the lousy weather that was predicted, we actually were pretty lucky. We had some wind gusts and a few light sprinkles. Nothing like the devastating weather up north of us. We had slightly over 100 registered guests including 14 cooking teams. The venue was just great, set in the middle of the woods at the Gulfport Dragway. Kudos to Theresa Reese, track owner, who provided the grounds to us free of charge. Also a sincere thanks to our own Lawnranger ( http://www.lawnrangerbbq.com/ ), ~thirdeye~ ( http://thirdeyebbq.com/default.aspx ), and tjv ( http://www.ceramicgrillstore.com/ceramicgrillstore/ )as well as the good folks at BBQ Guru ( http://www.thebbqguru.com/ ) for providing their products for door prizes. Also Dizzy Pig ( http://www.dizzypigbbq.com/ ) who provided samples to all participants. Also special thanks to Renny Sherman for making the web site, designing the t-shirt, booking the band, making the registration packets, Pete Wilson for managing the money, Jorge Cancel for getting the t-shirts, providing sinks and running water for the fest and donating a mini carrier for a door prize, Terry Helms who secured a block of rooms at the host hotel, George Rogers at Grate Grills and More for overall coordination and provision of the demo eggs, the Rotary Club for handling the registration, and underwriting the liability insurance, the Gulfport Police Dept for providing tables and finally, to all the folks who came out to cook and taste. In all, I think we had a successful event, and I am optimistic that it will grow in the years to come. My wife, Betsy took a FEW pics that I made into a photobucket slide show for your viewing pleasure.

I was just about to post a Thank-you for all the Forum prize contributors, but you beat me to it and did a MUCH more thorough job.
Thanks to all who helped put on a great fest! :woohoo: :woohoo:
Also Bob, those shrimp & sausage and the quesadillas were great ! :woohoo: -
Bob,
The slideshow requires a password.
BTW, I have an earlier posting and slideshow further down the page, if you haven't seen it. -
And many thanks to Bob Bullard for being our fearless leader through this whole thing. Without you, Bob, it wouldn't have happened at all. You worked your tail off and it paid off.
-
Sorry Clark,
Give it another shot and let me know if it works please. -
Thanks for the words, Terry, but we all pulled it together.

sometimes it's better to be lucky than good! -
I know time is more demanding with a small kid and more on the way. Just save me a bottle of porter or stout next time you bottle some.

Belongs to Grate Grills & More, the BGE dealer on the Coast. They use it for comps, catering and this Eggfest. Nice trailer. 2 XL's and 2 large eggs mounted in sturdy cabinets.
