An AMAZING Cook Book

Most cookbooks give you step by step instruction how to make a meal or dish. The book SEVEN FIRES teaches you how to cook with fire. The author and Chef Francis Mallmann is a visionary. This book is written and its pictures are displayed in a very rustic old world style of cooking with fire. Just about every method can be cooked in the egg. The explaination of a first "KISS" is never forgotten, has been used metaphoricaly when the meat touches the grill (or heat) for the first time, it never gets a second chance (you will learn how to feel temperature and understand how to develope a real crust from searing properly (no longer timing your turns). This book is on the same level or better than the Green Egg Cook Book. By the end of the book you will be twice the cook you are now, unless you are already there.
Thank me later,
Marc

Hi Marc,
Funny you should mention that cookbook. I browsed through it the other day and am going to borrow it from the library before I plunk down my cash. I agree...it looks awesome.
I'd love some tips on pizza. My egg is a couple of weeks old and have had some good luck with pizza but would love to learn from you. Feel free to email me at napervillejim@aol.com.
Cheers,
Jimmy -
Do you run with that rough crowd from Wisconsin?
Mike -
No I am from Canada, close to Toronto. I cannot change my profile. It always says US. I take it you do not like the book. It is a real ethnic style of cooking.

Here is the photo that is on the back cover of the book:
Is that "The World's Most Interesting Man" grilling in his backyard? Man, if that photo doesn't make you want to go cook something over a fire, nothing will. Check out the boots, the coat, the long hair, the bottle of wine in an upraised hand, the roaring fires, the magnificent view. Wow!
Thanks for the pointer. The Naked Whiz -
I LOVE that picture Doug! Wonder if I can get a copy of it to frame?? Too cool!!! My kind of guy!!
-
You sold me on that one. I went to Amazon and was reading the reviews and I'm very impressed. My orders in...I'll have it in 3-5 days. Can't wait! I love the picture on the back cover.

Hey fishless, thanks for putting that vision in my head. I'll never look at that picture the same. :(

Hmmmmm, and I wonder who that "one" person might be that they have to keep in line.
Have a great time on your trip. I LOVE to fish, you'll have to keep us in mind if you're ever up in the WI area. There is some great fishing here. -
Nice Wiz.

Wasn't he in an issue of Saveur Magizine?

Where is the author from? Argentina?
It does kinda look like he's relieving himself, but heck, he's obviously having fun! -
Hey, Neil, I'm over on Whidbey - we're neighbors! You going to the PNW eggfest on June 5? (Have we met? I have the worst memory...)
-
I don't think we have met- but look forward to it. I think I'll go on the 5th.
-
Jim did you go to Eggwegofest last year? -RP

That's what my wife said about the state quarter with the maple trees on it. "It looks like someone P*ssing into a bucket."The Naked Whiz

That's just a small version I nicked from Amazon. When I get the book, I could scan it and see if a sizeable image could be made of it. You could always write the publisher. The Naked Whiz

Whiz, you're the one with the book, but that looks more like a bottle of scotch than wine. Which, of course, makes me want to buy it all the more :woohoo:
-
It does say it's from the most meat-loving country on Earth. Take it from a guy who used to go to BA a lot, you eat so much great meat in Argentina, you actually get tired of it (and yeah, I couldn't believe it myself at the time).
-
I don't have it yet (Tuesday), but when I get it I'll see if I can figure it out. It looks like a bottle of white wine to me, or maybe a big bottle of a pale ale. Hard to say, of course. But what it is, here' mud in yer eye! :laugh:The Naked Whiz

It's an interesting book (coworker loaned it to me) but I found a great deal of the recipes were much, much more involved (time and effort) than I would ever be interested in making, but I did write down the recipe for chimichurri sauce.
He does show you how to roast an entire pig on a giant fire, if that's your thing.
