I've been on here reading different recipes for meatloaf. I think putting some cheese inside the meatloaf sounds great. I don't know if gouda is a strong cheese or not. I'm afraid of putting in a strong cheese. What do you guys think?

Gouda is fairly mild. Try some and see what you think. The Naked Whiz

Gouda is quite good-a

That's what I will use. Thanks. Can't wait until tomorrow night to try making this. Hard to believe I'm excited about making meatloaf!!!

Hit up "Jimmy the Cheese Man" for a sample the next time you hit Publix, Kroger, etc.

Gouda is pretty mild, one of my favorites. You can also buy smoked gouda which is what I get. It also melts very nicely.

I am very picky about cheese. If it stinks, has green or blue stuff growing on it, it stays on the plate. I would have no problem with Gouda in my meat loaf. That’s just me, if you are not sure; it is stronger than sharp cheddar. Good luck.

I'm the same way about cheese, but I love most cheeses except the great, blue stuff that stinks. Do you think the smoke flavor will add too much flavor and take away from the meatloaf?
-
Nope, bet that tastes great.

I make a chipotle meatloaf that has some diced red and green bell peppers, onions along with bread or cracker crumbs and egg. In between the top and bottom layers I put thick (1/2 inch) pieces of Pepper Jack Cheese. Once the meatload is nearly done, I top it with a glazed of pureed chipotles, ketchup and honey.
I also love gouda cheese and would not hesitate to use it on anything.
