Baking Indian flatbread
Options
In India we have a similar oven known as 'Tandoor".This is a baked clay pot enclosed in an insulated metallic box.The heating process is similar to BGE.Moistend flatten dough is patted on to the sidewalls of the clay pot for baking.Since your ceramic is glazed
, I am assuming it will not have any porosity. WillI be able to bake on your ceramic wall?

Kesh Prabhu,
you can, and i have. . .i have done a basic naan recipe that someone posted here once upon a time (can't find it at the moment). . . get the egg up to 750 degrees, open the lid, stick the dough directly on the dome and close gently... peel it off after a minute or two. ..it was very tasty. . .i used an old towell wrapped around a thick hot pad as my tool to stick it on the egg dome. . worked well, but you gotta watch the heat cause your arm is basically in the hot egg while doing it. .. sorry i don't have any pictures of this one. . .my neighbor brett and daughter were helping me and we ate all the bread while we were making it so there wasn't even any to take inside the house. . .

Kesh Prabhu,
The inside of the Egg is not glazed, only the outside.[p]TNW

Max, what you mean...put the dough on the dome, you open the dome...you stick the dough to the underside the dome, is that it?[p]

The Naked Whiz, your kiddin, my dome is black as pitch (well I guess it is pitch), so you mentioned a cloth, is that what keeps the black stuff off the bread?

mad max beyond eggdome,
And while I'm posting like a fool on this thread, I'm sure that Puj had a webpage to demonstrate naan, but I can't find it. I searched and the google link to Mrs. Puj's Calzone no longer works. Is Puj gone?[p]TNW

mad max beyond eggdome,
Can the flatbread be slapped on the sidewalls of the egg instead of in the dome?
Kesh.

Kesh Prabhu,
Good afternoon,
I was wondering if you could use a pizza stone that is semi porious to cook on? The sides of the BGE are steep and pick up a little ash. Good luck.[p]Louisiana Redneck

The Naked Whiz, Puj left the Atlanta environs for Charleston. Not sure he has surfaced yet.

Chet,
Naan wouldnt taste good with that black stuff on it. we dont know if kesh's dome was clean or black. But my guess would be to use a pizza stone or something flat enough for the naan.[p]Tandoori Junior
