I am having problem keeping the temp steady with my new toy the CYBERQ II. It keeps telling me take i have a low pit probe temp. I have it clipped to the grate not touching nothing else. When I scroll thru the menu screen it stops beeping and goes back to its normal functions. What am I doing wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is the pit temp and what is it set at? Also, do you have the probe plugged into the wrong spot (ie the fan in blower 1 and the probe in pit2)?
-
Yes that was one of the things I double and tripled checked
-
probie, Like Gene said make sure your probes are in the right place and pushed up tight.
Now What is the pit temp set at and what is the pit temp?
On top of all this how is your daisy wheel set and what temp are you trying to achieve?
I assume you have your bottom draft door up tight to the adapter.
Tim -
Also be sure the probe is competely plugged into the unit. What is the temp where you are. Could it be a cold weather issue?
-
Well I set the pit temp at 315 and the pit hold temp at 320. The temp was holding just fine and then it dropped down to 225 and then the alarm started going off saying that the pit temp was to low. This is enough to make me pull my hair out if I had any to pull out
-
I think that it might be the cold weather cause after I had gotten thing rollin another blizzard rolled in
-
My daisy wheel was set just like I normally set it when I cook anything about half a hole on the opening
-
I have used my CyberQ II in cold weather and did not have issues.
You said your pit temp went from 315° to 225°. I don't know if you opened the dome or your air flow went hay wire. Assuming you have plenty of lump in your egg I would take a wiggle stick up from the bottom to make sure you have good air flow. Another thing how do you have your damper set on your pit viper? I usually have mine on the first mark but, when I am having trouble like you I will open it up for a while until I've got my pit temp back to where I need it to be. Tim -
the vent on the viper was in the wide open position. This is the first time that I have had any time to mess with it I'm waiting for more parts to show up so I will be able to hook it up to my computer. It was a little cold and snowing to hard to stand out side and mess with it

It would probably be in your best interest to ask on the Guru forum first....they do monitor posts..
-
I connect my USB cable to a CAT5 adapter and I can control and monitor my cooks 50 feet away while using my CyberQ II form inside the house. Wish you well on your cook!
-
Sounds like your grate got clogged. Clearing the holes should fix the problem.
-
probie, :ermm: Well how did your cook go?

It turned out allright could have been better with out te blizzard
