Well David at The BoardSMITH shipped my butcher block and the beauty arrived today!!! It is the 16x22 Maple (The Carolina Slab) done in a end-grain style.
I have heard from several members on this and other forums about these boards and also read about them in a book. Nothing prepared me for how amazing they are in person. They aren't cheap, but I feel they are well worth it!!! I plan on ordering a smaller one this week as well to go with it. This one is big and almost covers the entire stove as you can see in the fist picture.

I had to take some pictures with my digital camera instead of my phone because the other did it no justice as you can clearly see by the new pics. This thing is ART!!!

Envy is one of the seven deadly sins.
I am in big trouble.
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's cutting board.
Really big trouble. -
Congrats! Very, very nice! Are you gonna cut on that beauty? Or is that what the little one is gonna be for?

I will use both of them. From what I understand, down the road if it gets some big marks in it, it can be slightly sanded and then a wax/mineral oil coating applied to it which should restore it to new condition.
