Well at least the road is open now to unblock the driveway.
I'll have to thank the grader operator for taking out my mail box and newspaper tubes and the extra large pile of snow in front of my driveway...
Good news we're back in eggin' b'iness. The club is closed so no Super Bowl party except what we can make of here at home. Got food, adult beverages and my honey...hope she stays awake for the game
The house..
The driveway from the road..
The path to the front door...
This is a serious pile of snow..
A little reward for the wife and me after the Blizzard of 2010 - home made summer sausage and a little red wine..
Cheers!

Bill,
Wow! We haven't had a quarter of that this year.

I hear ya, Normally I'd expect these pics from you. Fourth biggest snowfall in history in VA. I'm so lucky to be here to experience it... :S .
Cheers, -

Dang Bill, I know it's probably not too convenient but that is a beautiful setting.
-
I was just thinking that you must have planned ahead to get that tractor out. That would have been pretty tough to move 3 feet of snow to get it out of that shop.
-
Hey Truck,
You're right after the storm it is "purty". There's snow falling from the trees, the birds are back at the feeders, we're safe and sound and sun is shining. Kinda priceless in a way.
Thank you, -
What a great place to watch the game..Drive is clear and you found your eggs!
I can relate to the lost mailbox.I hate that when it happens. -
The planning is plowing every three hours to stay ahead of the storm or else the tractor would still be in the shed. Didn't get any sleep Fri/Sat but so what I slept well last night.
Thanks, -
Bill,
I was looking at those pics thinking, "I could use one of them big green things to move my snow."
Your snowpiles are impressive. I can't wait to hear how soon they melt away! We had our first biggie in early December and it just keeps piling up. Hopefully you will experience a gradual melt and it goes away. Stay warm and enjoy your snack. -
Trudat!
Thanks, -
That is incredible! Summer sausage looks awesome too!
-
Beautiful photos! I miss that kind of storm, back when I was a kid in NY.
At the lower elevations here in Oregon we just don't hardly see that kind of pile up.
Which of course is both good and bad...
Man, you have so much snow, it's almost like
"Honey, do you know where the large egg is?
I can't find it...." -
Damn NoVaBill,
That's some serious snow, sure glad it's not in my yard. I feel for you and all the others that are having to put up with it.
Best of Luck,
Bordello -
What is the temp there today NoVa?
-
Hey Staci,
I don't know but it'll take some time. The rodent from PA saw his shadow so it's six more weeks of winter and another storm, albeit smaller, may hit Tue/Wed. Good news there's no rain in the fcst else a huge disaster would be in the making.
BTW, the big-green-thing is the best power tool I ever bought.
Thanks, -
Hey Lee,
That was my first effort at summer sausage and must say I impressed myself - not bragging - just surprised how well it tastes.
Thanks! -
I just got my Hi Mountain kit in the mail this week....and bought a meat grinder for the KA mixer.....I hope mine turns out that nice!! What meats did you use?
-
Hey Bordello,
Good to hear from you. The wife and I are talking about looking into AZ as a new homestead to get away from the snow. Probably visit a few times first. I can get into the Marriott Desert Ridge timeshare north of Phoenix.
Cheers! -
I used my in-law's from So. IL recipe and they use 100% fresh ham.
Good luck!! -
Not too bad it's hanging in the 20's. Could go single digit tonight.
-
Thats just crazy Bill. Thanks for the pics though. Showed everyone here what snow is! :woohoo:
-
Yep there's a mystic about a good storm, I liked being out on a lake during foul weather. However, the older I get the less I look fwd to these major events from Mother Nature.
I must recognize my wife for she did the digging out of the eggs as I helped a couple of neighbors open up their driveways from the piles left when the plow goes by. I believe she's in slumber land at this time.
Thanks! -
Unfortunately I was the delivery man.  Like I was telling GG I've been in a few big blizzards especially when the wife and I lived in No. CA. But this one was the biggest in some time.
Thanks, -
Lookin good, Bill. We still haven't seen a snow plow in our neighborhood. Maybe someday soon....
-
Wow!
I went to high school in Northern Va (Fairfax County). Wish it had snowed like that when I lived there.
Very nice pics - thanks for sharing.
Richard -
Boy you do have the snow, we are preparing for a hit tonight and tomorrow in KS. Stay warm and be safe. Will be thinking of you today.
What no Party!!!

Hey Bill, Who'd you pay off to get your road that clear? Here in Fairfax Co I had 1 snowplow pass by over 24 hours ago! Our driveway is clear to where the plow came through but we can't drive on the snow - too thick. Stay safe.Gail

Hey Bill
Glad to see you survived. Those are great photos, I love the one of the house, that is beautiful - very pretty place you have there, even with out all the white stuff. I would like to see that same photo long about mid August when everything is all green.
Like Rickless I can remember storms like that while growing up but in New England and pulling all nighters to keep ahead of it with the plowing. My Dad had an old International Harvester tractor that you had to sit up on top of, all exposed to the storm. You had to bundle up till you resembled a stump.
We had a real cracker of a thunderstorm come through on the tail end of that same front and gave us some much needed rain.
The Summer Sausage looks wonderful, a nice reward for all your efforts.
Have a great day,
Gator

Bill, Thanks for posting the picutres. As you know, I just love the snow. Looks loke a winter wonderland.
Funny about those snowplowers, always seem to block my driveway with mounds of snow as well.
Looks as if you gave yourself a handsome reward with the summer sausage and wine. -
You're welcome and thank you.
