I just picked up my mini's ceramic top off of mini Max. And this..what the heck??
I can (don't think it shows in the pic) see the pieces under the therm.
Ceramic top is padded
I barly touched it and it just crumbles some more. Does not really show it but it did.
I can't dig this!! These mini's aren't made on the cheap are they??
Guess I'll be making a call tomorrow.

How did you put the top on and when? :woohoo: Blame it on DOWEY.

My only thought is, you put the cap or the DFMT on a little to enthusiastically at some point and cracked it. Might not have even been noticeable at the time, but after a bit of use, a chunk finally fell off. The "extra" that came off when you touched it was probably just the rest of what was already loose. Just a guess of course. Hopefully, that's the worst of it!
Hey, maybe Samuel did it.I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Naw. It literally is very brittle. I'm not touching it anymore. I gently put my daisy on now to get through my dinner.Molly

I'd be upset too... my neighbor across the street had his top flip off and cracked a notch our worse than that 4 years ago... he only leaves the daisy wheel on it and never covers it... has stood up to the all the elements without getting worse.Kent Madison MS

I chipped my large with the smallest of touches. I patched it with BGE Paint from my dealer over a coat of JB Weld and it's been fine!Visit my blog, dedicated to my Big Green Egg Recipies at http://www.bigtsbge.blogspot.com You can also follow my posts on FaceBook under the name Keep On Eggin' or the link http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Keep-On-Eggin/198049930216241

SOAFS! I liken that to when a guy watches America's funniest home videos and sees a guy take a baseball to his boys. I know every guy feels that. I just felt that sunken feeling you had when you saw that piece missing.
-
oh yes, "to cover or submerge in water" I have indeed.
-
OMIGOD! REALLY?
-
I need to repair some very minor chips on mine (lets just say I learned to use a butter knife and not a screwdriver to unstick my dome)and would like to paint the chips. Do I just go to the mothership store and buy some paint?
-

-
Looks to me that your dome came crashing down The bolt on the daisy wheel caused the chip(i've seen it happen) :pinch:
-
Not sure if I agree with that Doug. It has not crashed downon my watch..wich is all the time. Thanks for your thought though.Molly
