YES< YES < YES and ohhh ya YES!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just got this setup in the mail 2 days ago. Used it twice already. Makes your Green Egg an oven. I light a few coals set my temp and walk away.. Almost funny!

If I were you, I'd learn to hold temps on a low-n-slow manually first. You can't always count on the electronics to be there, so understanding your Egg first should be a priority. I've got a Guru, but I used my Egg for quite a while before getting it.

I agree with your advice and have been using my BGE for about 1.5 years now. I feel pretty comfortable holding temps, that's why I'm wondering if its really worth spending the money.
-
I agree with Jeffersonian. I've got a DigiQ but really only use it for long low n' slo's. Everything you can do with the the DigiQ you can do without. Mike

In that case, yes, I'd go ahead and get one. They're great on overnight cooks when you want to get a little shuteye.
-
My vote is that the BGE is as good as an oven already. Many of us do lo/slo without them, even overnighters. Not to mention we hear time and again about people having fires go out even WITH guru's. Fires go out on occassion. Once for me in 2 years.
-
Agree they are worth every cent.
-
I love mine, not for everyday use but overnight cooks you can't beat them. The only problem I have is the DigiQ and the BGE temp probe give two different readings.
-
Best investment for sleeping at night with low and slows...I love mine too

The Digi Q works, it's simple to use.
Manual control works too, just don't get too hung up on temps.
If you want a worry free cook while you go out it's great.
Something about having a computer control seems to go against the point of putting meat over charcoal in my (romantic) head but yes it works.
In short a great part of the armoury - I'm going to use one tonight as we have friends over and it'll make sure lunch happens easily. It would probably be OK under manual control but I would have nagging worries that I'd let them down. The Guru takes that worry away. -
Have you calibrated the dome probe in a while? Mine was off 20 degrees!
I am sure you also know that grid and dome temp will be different.
I am almost ready to pick up a Digi Q myself!
